Just so everyone knows we made it back safe and sound.

We met at the Shell gas station in Estacada around 9:30 then headed up to South Fork Road with igotTOYZandaWIFE leading the way.

Started off pretty smooth sailing, patches of snow here and there and even oddly enough some country folk camping. We kept heading up South Fork Road somehow missing the turn off to Huxley lake but it didn't matter we were having fun!

As we climbed we hit some patches of snow where the back up and then gun it technique was needed. Unfortunately with all the gunning it in low gears and trying to spin those 37's my Jeep got the HOT OIL indicator. We stopped and I checked the oil and let her cool down. After about 20 minutes or so of chatting we continued on our way.

About another mile up DING it comes back on. I decide I don't want to push it anymore so we start our way back down. On the way back, BOOM igotTOYZandaWIFE gets the HOT OIL indicator too!

I had a great time, I think we could have made it a lot farther up if both of us had aired down. But it was a difficult snow pack anyways, very ice and dense all the way to the ground. Not the nice fresh powder that it is easy to break through.

Here's some iPhone pics that igotTOYZandaWIFE took.

Thanks Jsears for adding commentary of last nights adventure. Unfortunately, a short time after I got home, a massive wind storm came unexpectedly and uprooted over ten trees, one of which came crashing down on me - the main trunk missed me thank god but the branches brushed my shoulder as the top of the 100' tree hit beside me (I was heading outside to move my jeep behind the shop so it wouldn't get a flying limb through the windshield due to the winds when the first tree broke loose right behind me). That same tree that almost killed me landed ontop of my Jeeps hood. Sorry to say I won't be in Long Beach this weekend! Hopefully everything is fixable

Yikes...! Man, I hope you feel better now. The jeep will heal just fine.
Is it time for an AEV hood...

Thanks for the concern and kind words everyone! And as a matter of fact, an AEV hood is only $150 more than an OEM

Yikes. I do not like Jeep carnage. Anything else damaged on your Jeep besides the hood?

Haha. The claim adjuster hasn't seen it yet, so there may just be a limb that went through the block
