Tips on Logandale/Valley of Fire ?

We 're gonna be in Vegas in a couple of weeks and make a daytrip to logandale and valley of fire. I'll be in a rented jeep so nothing too xtreme.
Any local knowledge or suggestions?

I have lived in southern Nevada for most of my life and there is plenty to see without going too far I posted a couple of places in Trails & Tales and only about 45-60 min from Vegas
