I was at a stop sign and a modded LJ was pulling into a shopping center drove past me and he waved at me. I smiled and waved back. I was happy, that was the first time someone else initiated the wave.
Now that Winter's back in session, I'm seeing at least 5-10 more jeeps on the road EVERYDAY than I did when weather was nice... I guess the rich folks around me garage their convertibles/Benzs/Beemers for the winter and pull out the ol' trusty Jeep.
Now that I'm lifted on big tires, I get a lot more wave backs... but I'm the one to initiate the wave.

I've started flipping the bird, it always works and you always get a reply.
I remember when I first got my TJ and people were waiving at me, I was like "what the hell are these people waiving at"...
Now in my JK i'd say about 75% return the waive which is pretty good from what i've heard on here...sometimes I catch a Jeep too late and dont have a chance to waive and I feel like a dick...

It's not just a Jeep thing. Sports cars are guilty too. When I got my used MG as a kid, ALL the mg's waved at each other. Then I stepped up to an Opel GT and 90% waved. Then I upped the ante with a Datsun 240Z and got a 75% return. Next step was a Nissan 300 and 50% wavers. When I got a 350Z it was almost nothing. Sold the Z, bought the Jeep and find I'm getting a real mixed wave pattern.
I try to wave first but sometimes I'm HUA with the radio or looking elsewhere when I see a Jeep. Not as many as I would expect wave at me first. But it's the thought that counts. Keep waving and keep on trucking..oops. I mean Jeeping.

You guys crack me up. Being new to the Jeep thing (but knowing about it from friends with Jeeps), I am always waving at other Jeeps. I don't care what designation they are (CJ, TJ YJ, MB, JK, ...). The day I drove my 4-door off the lot, not 1/2 a mile I passed another Jeep. He waved, and I returned. Made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. (Watch it Toad!)
I still wave at every Jeep I see, but I get about 40% back. I like it when you get the doubl wave (husband and wife).

Stop! I'm getting excited.
