2012 JK RIPP Supercharger Sneak Peak - Worlds First Supercharged 3.6
on anyhing you will decrease life expantancy...I say if you drive it somewhat civilized should be o-k...
"The WA580 was used in many different Chrysler products, starting with the 2005 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum; it was used with the 3.5 liter V6 and Hemi V8 engines. Later, it was used in the Jeep Liberty, Grand Cherokee, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Ram truck, as well as every automatic-transmission SRT8 through at least 2012, and the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The transmission was first launched in 2003 by Mercedes; one engineer familiar with it believes it to have been a copy of the five-speed ZF automatic."
Also, increasing the the power of the engine does not increase friction in the drive train. And it may be more accurate to use a set HP number to overcome it. Stock at the crank is 285 HP, dyno numbers show 180 HP at the wheels. That's 105 HP to overcome the friction in the drive line. Apply the static 105 HP to the new 320 HP dyno number and you have 425 HP at the crank.
Why can't I start at a number (475) and take away until I get 33% less?
I have no direct knowledge or experience with Ripp, but, I get 475 from (x-33%)=320, thats all. Where am I wrong?
"I just cant imagine their supercharger would add much more than 100-120 crank hp at the most."
Based upon what actual experience in supercharging 3.6 engines?

Ok, differences in the 3.8 vs 3.6 are literally the difference like the difference between Apples and Oranges...
3.8L Iron, pushrod, OHV 2 valve per cylinder (12 Valve). 21+ year old technology.
3.6L Aluminum, DOHC, 4 valve per cylinder (24 Valve) New technology.
Much better "breathing" motor, can move more air, more efficiently= more available power to the wheels.
Just remember this when debating.
RIPP
Im going to have to agree with ripp on this one. I just finished helping a buddy of mine put in a supercharger on this v6 mustang and holyshneikies!! Over 129 hp improvement. The engines of these two vehicles actually arent that different so I can believe the numbers.
Also the bew v6 was designed to have forced induction anyways.
