Alpha Expedition: Gobi Roof Rack.
I just wanted to check in again and give an update on the Gobi Rack attached to my 2008 Rubicon JK. I am extremely pleased with the way that this rack has performed with all the things that I have thrown at it. It handles with ease the weight and stress that I have put on it. It shows no sign that it is faltering in any way. In fact, I believe this rack could take on a whole lot more. Talk about well built and strong. I would not put anything else on my Jeep. It is by far the best looking rack I have yet to see on a Jeep which is a very nice added bonus.
Take it from someone who has put a demand on a roof rack far beyond the norm, this is THE RACK. I have no financial interest in the company. I just like to enthusiastically support products that are well built and perform as they should which is getting harder to find.
Good job Gobi!!!

The question is, what does it look like. Will it work with lights or just be for people without lights. I'm hoping it is flexible so it will work with both.
I can't believe it, GOBI came through for me and shipped me my replacement parts to Europe. It took a little bit of complaining on my part, but the welds on the rear support bracket broke off. The new welds on there look like nothing will break them. The powdercoat on the new brackets is awesome. The first one began flaking as soon as I put it on, when I let GOBI know about it about 5 months ago they said that a replacement was on it's way... It took 5 months to get here, but it's awesome. I ended up having to angle the towers a little bit forward so when I tightened down the thumb screws they would stay a little flatter on the body. I need to get some of the washers with adhesive backing on them to protect the paint on the Jeep. I have a spot that has rubbed through the paint already.
Can anyone tell me if you can take the rack and rear bracets off and leave the lights and wires on the jeep? Random question I know, but I'm curious...
Also, any pics of a canoe or kayak on a ranger version? I'm wondering about clearance issues with the front bar and lights...
Third... any ideas if it'll work with a River Raider Snorkel?
Trying to plan everything out, don't want any clearance issues... Thanks!!!
Looks like my credit card is going to have to prepare for yet another hit...
Oh well...
