I love my GOBI rack. I get tons of compliments on it from random people.

Hey all, I'm thinking about picking up the Gobi stealth and I'm running the AEV rear corners. In taking a look at the install instructions...it looks like that support gusset on the mounting bracket comes pretty close to the stock body panel. My question is...is there anyone out there that can tell me of any clearance issues there since those corners add another 1/8" or so of thickness to the body panel? It looks like there is room based on the various photos...but just wondering if anyone can verify from personal experience?

Thanks

Hey Hutch,

I just went to the garage and photographed mine. I have the Ranger, not the Stealth, but I'm sure they are identical where they mount. As you can see from the attached iphone shots, you probably will have to shave down the 'Black Nylon isolator 13'. It is a very tight fit for that, which firmly holds the rack against the side of the Jeep. It is designed to go right on the seam of the body, which you may no longer be able to see, but with the AEV corner reinforcing that area and distributing the pressure that shouldn't be as big of a deal. I just think you're going to have to shave 1/8" off the isolator. Other than that, you're not going to have any issues I think.

The upper bolt is adjustable and you just undo it for flipping the rack back. The rack ships with that diamond plate protector, but you probably won't need it.

EDIT - The only other thing is that the AEV needs to be exactly the same vertical length as the OEM panel. There is zero tolerance between the horizontal plate on the rear gusset and the bottom edge of the body.

Thanks a million for the photos, Scott...exactly what I was looking for. It sounds like it should work fine. I did some more searching and found a few photos with my same setup and it looks like it went together perfect. The good thing is the AEV sits just about 1/8 above where the OEM panel ends so there should be no problem with the horizontal mounting plate. Thanks again

Ha! My pleasure. I figured I needed to respond quick. That period of time before you're about to buy something like this is a hectic frenzy of research and excitement. Frantic google searches to make sure it's all gonna work. LOL.

I love the rack BTW. It's great. I have a Maggiolina Airtop on mine and it's awesome.

Also the guys at Gobi are awesome. Great customer service.

Have a great weekend.

Scott

LOL...that's exactly it! I'm glad to know it works well with a RTT...that will definitely be going on before long too. Sure sounds like it's a well-built setup.

Have a good one.
