Kicker Factory Replacement Overhead Sound Bar Speaker Kit
Thank you.
Crutchfield is an option, i am sure there are more.
I strongly recommend to anyone who is buying anything to research it first, as there is a better than not chance that you can find it cheaper elsewhere. Again, that is what I chose to do, i spend some time on google/yahoo and do some searches, especially if i can get a model number, and get some prices. Then i call a sponsor to see what they can do, many of them WILL price match or beat, and fiddle with shipping to get your buisness. If they cant, they will say so. Anyone who blindly buys something without looking around, is bound to get screwed.

According to that, they fit the dash but not the soundbar.

Oh good lord.
If you think they are to expensive, dont buy them. (I think they are WAY to expensive, so i wont be)
There isn't anything wrong with buying from a cheaper source. We do of course endorse our sponsors as much as possible because they help pay the bills, but if they are that far out of the ballpark, then speaking with your dollar is the best voice we have.
Did anyone bother to call them and let them know how far out in left field they are on their pricing for this?!??? ~ I'd venture to guess: probably not.
I have delt with Crutchfield for years and have no problems giving them a call about getting new ones for mine (If & when i get around to it), but i would START by calling the sponsoring vendors and making them aware i did find the same thing elsewhere, substantially cheaper. Maybe they will bend. Heck, maybe not, but that's what I'd do.

I sent an email to Quadratec asking them about their price on these speakers before I found this site. They said they'd match any competitors prices. There's some conditions as there are with any low price guarantee from any store. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one questioning the price on these.

I am still not clear on why the front 6.5" speakers aren't recommended for replacement. Aren't they the same as the overhead speakers?
Friend.....I received them, installed them and they fit in the soundbar with no issues. I now can actaully hear and know that there are rear speakers. I did have to drill one hole in the bracket that they include to match up with the factory holes in the overhead. The good news is that the factory grill plates fit right over them instead of that ugly grill plate that comes from Kicker and is shown in the Quadratec advertisement. I think I am now going to order a set for the fronts too since they are the same speakers. It took all of 15 minutes to hook them up since they come with the factory wiring harnesses too.
If you use the mentioned link for Crutchfield do you get everything you need to install? The website says they are for the dash not the soundbar so I am concerned about getting the correct brackets.
Here's a little help to clarify the difference between the two...
The link to Kicker's website http://www.kicker.com/06/kicker_home.html for clarification on the difference between the DS600's listed at Crutchfield for $69.99 as opposed to the DS650's offered by quadratec. Since they both send everything you need to complete the install, I am not sure what difference in sound quality a 1/2 inch less of mid range would actually make. There is a huge price difference though....and $6.99 for freight from Crutchfield compared to the $24.99 quoted by Quadratec's website equals about a $85 overall savings for giving up that 1/2" of mid range I mentioned earlier. Hope this helps those that are on the fence.

Does anyone have any pictures of the Crutchfield-offered DS600s installed? I am interested to see if the adapter they came with fits or if it needs to be drilled a little. I am curious to see if the difference between what Crutchfield and Quadratec are offering is the adapter for the JK soundbar.
Other than what has already been mentioned as far as speaker specifications. If there the bracket is the only difference...that is an expensive difference.

No offense intended, just meant to bring a little balance and perspective...
I don't see Crutchfield on here answering questions and taking time to engage with the community. It takes time and money to pay someone to be this engaged, and there aren't many companies doing it. If we treat the ones who do disrespectfully, there will be even fewer of them...
It costs money to run a business, it takes man hours to put together kits that are custom fit like this one, and there are customers who have differing skill levels who are benefited through these custom products. Some people may have great audio skills and have no problem cutting into their wire harnesses and splicing in new products, but not feel confident doing other kinds of mods. One size doesn't fit all... but the companies that are out there offering their services like this to us enthusiasts are giving us a ton of options that other vehicle owners aren't getting.
Let's say thank you when we benefit for a product that fills a need that we wouldn't otherwise get due to time, money, skills, etc. and if a product doesn't suit us, shrug and let those who it does suit enjoy it.
Cheers,

You have got to be joking. Crutchfield does all this cheaper. Money will always be the defining factor, when everything else compares in customer service, product, etc...
