Kicker Factory Replacement Overhead Sound Bar Speaker Kit
No offense intended, just meant to bring a little balance and perspective...
I don't see Crutchfield on here answering questions and taking time to engage with the community. It takes time and money to pay someone to be this engaged, and there aren't many companies doing it. If we treat the ones who do disrespectfully, there will be even fewer of them...
When a vendor posts a link to a new product, it's done as a service. If you disagree with the price, don't buy it. If you have alternatives and can offer those in a respectful way then I think that's cool but there's a fine line there that I see getting crossed quite a bit.
It costs money to run a business, it takes man hours to put together kits that are custom fit like this one, and there are customers who have differing skill levels who are benefited through these custom products. Some people may have great audio skills and have no problem cutting into their wire harnesses and splicing in new products, but not feel confident doing other kinds of mods. One size doesn't fit all... but the companies that are out there offering their services like this to us enthusiasts are giving us a ton of options that other vehicle owners aren't getting.
Let's say thank you when we benefit for a product that fills a need that we wouldn't otherwise get due to time, money, skills, etc. and if a product doesn't suit us, shrug and let those who it does suit enjoy it.
To sum it up, we can all benefit some times from remembering what mom said... "if you don't have anything nice to say..."
Keep the rubber side down and enjoy the great support we get from guys like Dave at Northridge, Quadratec, and the many other great vendors who take time to engage with us directly.
Cheers,

my first post and first Jeep. I have been on many forums this being my least knowledable. I could not agree with the post more. So many times it is easy for people to down grade another. I know it is a open forum, I agree although I will go back to gadget's post which seems very responsible. Just think if you was trying to help or start a trend whether your making money or not you should back the people helping.
I saw those speakers for $70.00 at Crutchfield...why the difference in price? Also, why the detailed instructions if it only takes a minute or two and a screwdriver for install...raises flags with me; lastly, why is the factory grill a possible option on install...who would run any vehicle speaker unprotected...I'm old school, BTW...still run my G.A.S. Ampzilla amp, Phoebe pre-amp, Thorens TD 125 turntable, Nakamichi 1000 cassette player, and ADS speakers...anyone here remember this stuff...if you do, you will chit your pants if you saw my 2 pristine, still in boxes, Marantz tube amps and pre-amps (when they were still made in Germany)...

BTW the install requires a phillips screwdriver, a torx driver, and a very small wrench.
But if the flags are still being raised, buy the $70 dollar ones and do a write up.
The difference is the mounting plate that mounts to the sound bar, and allows mounting the speakers. The holes are not even close to lining up on the junk stock speakers, and the new ones. Also includes plugs that plug into the factory harness in the sound bar so you don't have to cut into the factory wiring. As far as the detailed instructions, you can't even sell a bottle of ketchup anymore without detailed instructions...Refrigerate after opening...remove foil...twist to open...Some dumba$$ would be suing...

That's a pretty good deal if you compare Quadratec... although not sure if they are the same MODEL of speakers.. but they sure do look alike.

Here's a little help to clarify the difference between the two...
The link to Kicker's website http://www.kicker.com/06/kicker_home.html for clarification on the difference between the DS600's listed at Crutchfield for $69.99 as opposed to the DS650's offered by quadratec. Since they both send everything you need to complete the install, I am not sure what difference in sound quality a 1/2 inch less of mid range would actually make. There is a huge price difference though....and $6.99 for freight from Crutchfield compared to the $24.99 quoted by Quadratec's website equals about a $85 overall savings for giving up that 1/2" of mid range I mentioned earlier. Hope this helps those that are on the fence.
