1: Change holder

2: Taller center armrest

3: 2 center compartments (a thin top level with cell-phone storage, i pod storage, misc storage, and a bigger storage compartment underneath... honda accord style

4. Cup holders (Have one-size-fits-most securing mechanism, like in the JK now)

5. Color matched

6. Removable plate (to mount switches)

7. Towards the front area (ahead of the seats) on the sides, make storage pockets or nets

8. loose odds n' ends area exposed (I used my cupholder all the time for little things)

9. Re-locate cup holders from factory setup (They're right in the way of my shifter if I have a drink in them)

10. Sell with glove box mod as well! (So I only need 1 key! Make Glovebox look nice though...)

Other odd's n' ends:

A: 2 tone looks nice... follow the color scheme

B: I like the way the armrest looks... Try not to make it a boxy ugly thing!

C: If you're integrating power (Make an adapter for the cigarette lighter to get the power) Add in little LED's to shine down on the console cup holders (Those thigns are dark at night)

D: Make a second cigarette lighter port inside of the locked arm rest (for cell phone...Look at the 07 honda accord!!!)

agreed with jeff. the lid comes down with surprising speed and force, it can chop off a finger, no joke. i worry about my passengers casual use of it. it is als hard to open with pressing down with the other hand. hopefully this new console will be a bit less difficult and, uh, dangerous to the fingers.

1. Color matched
2. Taller/Larger storage with padding
3. Possible storage in front of shifter
4. Possible latch to hold padded lid in open position
5. LED lighting inside storage compartment

Built very tough. Need somewhere secure to store my HK in my JK!

Heated and cooled cup holders---NO WAY! It's a Jeep not a Lexus, (just my opinion obviously!)

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Some of them are very usable such as the taller armrest, color matched, and change holder ideas. Interior lighting will probably be an add on option. The lid will be designed to open past 90 degrees so that it doesn't fall closed so easily.

Thanks

Jeff,
Thanks for coming onto the forum to ask the actual owners what we want in a full console. It's really nice to see a vendor asking for input from their future customers in such an open way. I was going to buy the insert, but I think I'll hold out for the full console (especially if it comes with the cappacino/expresso machine built in ).

As far as electronic options go... the sky is the limit... and everyone will want to do something different... How about just designing it to make it easier to add your own aftermarket things.. like the above mentioned plate to mount your own switches.. and a special channel/conduit or similar to actually run wire through (from the up by the dash back to the switch plate)

Im not sure about the JK, but when I've ran wiring for lights etc to the console in a TJ and XJ, There were a few really tight placed where I was scared the wiring could get snagged etc (like right next to the shifter).

As an aside, how well do you think those Heated/Cooled cupholder gimmics really work?

It wont keep your coffee hot anyways, because half the time those are in insulated cups. And cooling? It's probably a fan! Unless there's freon and junk underneath!

I would have expected luxury car makers to have heated and cooled cupholders a while ago if they were actually usefull. But, to me, it just sounds like a way to pull in accord customers, to buy a not-so-fantastic excuse for a car.
