I am waiting to see how this will work.

No cutting is needed? And I like the "flat" vent on the hood. It points downward right?

i realy thought the install was going to be thru the firewall ,, look like a lot of work to remove fender , but still saves the cutting of the hood "aev" .. looks like will be a nicer snorkel than most nontheless.

..

For those of us with dual batteries there is zero room between the second battery and engine to route an air pipe from the firewall, so I'm glad RR have found a solution. Combo of a snorkel and dual batteries are lifesavers

Look back a few pages (103) and you'll see how it works. There is some cutting, not much, and none on visible areas. Really cool way to do the job.

Just went through the entire thread and I love the design. The install does not look nearly as bad as it sounds. I truly like the modular design and ability to have the low intake as well as the high snorkel. The aluminum pipe is not a major concern however if as an option you could either wrap or just send it with a bit of fiberglass heatshield wrap (same stuff used on turbo piping) that would put some peoples minds at ease. However the air is flowing so quickly that it will not have as much time to warm up when compared to an intake inside the engine bay. I have made similar datalogs for other cars showing similar results. Even with an all metal CAI pipe running by the header, the temps do not increase as drastically when compared to an intake where the inlet is inside the bay upon idle. They will always go up just from heatsoak on the pipe but nothing like the heatsoak with stock inlet.

I do have one general snorkel question for anyone with one. When driving through rain, where does the water that will inevitably get sucked into the inlet go? Do you have to remove a coupler from time to time and drain it in the pipes? People with AEM, does it end up going into the airbox anyway? The shorty downward inlet will solve this for the most part but when running the high neck, what happens? Especially on this design where the pipe goes below the line of the intake, will it pool in the lower pipe until it gets filled enough to get sucked up into the box?

Well, after seeing a guy tear his side mounted snorkel off on a tree this weekend, I am really looking forward to this one.

Install looks easy enough - hey, it took me 2 days to install some of my mods; this one will be easy.

Very clever design too. I really like the RR Expedition unit, but this one looks better and has way less cutting (being able to reverse the process appeals to me).
