What would you like in a snorkel design?
I really like the new design of the low intake. Allot more aggressive. If you are +/- 5whp compared to stock then that is a success when you consider the extra piping and bends. After this one is complete (not giving any timeframe), about how long after that do you think the 2011 adaptation will take?
Also just throwing this out there again, either as an option or just part of the package . . . thoughts on packaging with the driver side cowl armor piece? Would add symmetry and aesthetics. Buying the regular set would be a waste of the passenger so if it were an option to add the driver or just as the overall package, that would be awesome.

I'm getting very excited. I've been following this thread from the beginning and I have held on to see this product before making a decision on a snorkel. I've been really tempted to pull the trigger on the River Raider, very tempted, I hope this product comes out soon.
Well your timing is good... We will be doing DYNO runs this week. Hope to have the data to you guys by the end of the week. We have done final (conditional) approvals for about 75% of the kit. Still have a few final (quality - appearance) issues to finalize for the other 25% and hope to have final approvals for production very, very soon. To give you guys an idea of how things can change and delay things we just had to do a final last minute revision to the shape of the low mount intake. This has everything to do with function over form. We pushed hard all the way to the end to have the low intake designed to allow the windshield to be dropped. Well it looks like that wish list item had to be removed. We found that we were at the very lower limits of air flow through the low intake and we just did not feel comfortable with the small amount of wiggle room it allowed. Attached is the reworked intake. It is higher but has twice the air flow than the original design.
Now I have not gone out and removed the windshield frame bolts and dropped the glass yet. Its close but I just have a feeling the curve of the windshield will not be enough to allow it to sit flat on the hood bumpers and clear the new design. We have also included images showing the cowl remounting bracket and how the cowl can be put back to stock if needed..
As for the dyno test: 2011 JK Unlimited (3.8L) 10,000 miles
Stock engine and headers
Stock exhaust
5.13:1 gear ratio
35" M/T MTA all terrain tires (Dyno friendly)
The test will be a base line test for this vehicle and will include the following runs.
(1) stock intake with factory air filter - baseline.
(2) stock intake with Rugged Ridge drop in high flow air filter element
(3) Low mount snorkel intake system with Rugged Ridge air filter
(4) High mount snorkel intake system with Rugged Ridge air filter

Freaking sweet!!!!!! Once again you guys have made this design one step above awesome!!!!! I really like the way you paid close attention to air flow and the overall function over form. I am still loving the design. Can't wait for it to come out. I'm liking the drivers side storage idea......... If any one can do its rugged ridge. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the end product
. Will the final product be sent with both upper and lower intakes so we can change them out if we wanted? Or is it going to be lower only and the upper extra? Thanks again guys.

I will pass along the idea regarding the cowl cover...
You know, I was wondering what is under the driver's side cowl. Your idea would work and look great, but maybe lets make it a small storage bin with a locking door. Would be good place for a strap, gloves, d-rings, etc. I don't know how much usable space would be there but I bet Rugged Ridge could design up something.
