What would you like in a snorkel design?

Point is avoid cutting the hood, and improve airflow for the 99% non-water crossings, and make the intake visible to the driver. I can never see how close the water level is getting to my headlights. At least with a cowl-mounted mushroom cap we could see the water cresting the hood, and approaching the mushroom - and adjust driving accordingly.
Here is my order of preference for existing snorkels already on the market for JK:
AEV - best because it uses stock airbox, affordable, and can resemble a stocker with the mesh vent cover installed - then mount snorkel when needed. Clincher is the multiple ram/air cleaner intakes. Minimal clutter appearance. Good drainage available for rain/splashes. Simple.
Safari Snorkel/ARB - clean lines, available for both CRD & petrol left & right hand drive. Good drainage for rain/splashes. Not too keen on cutting fenders and flenders.
River Raider - Metal and boxy I just don't think it looks right, and I suspect rain/splashes get sucked in. A little on the pricey side. Complicated install to relo battery tray, and flexy piping appears cheezy underhood.
J8 - Military side vent on hood is -eh... Not what i would prefer. Functional yes. Provides water visibility = some. Also looks cheezy and flimsy like a shoebox bolted to the hood.
Volant is the worst by far. OMG what were they thinking mounting that on the outside of the hood? It's really a shame i thought for sure I was going to get the Volant CAI & snorkel and nearly barfed when I saw it. I don't care how many HP it might add -> "Take it back to Formula"...
I think what can seperate Rugged Ridge snorkels form their competitors, is a near stock "Sleeper" version that provides better & cooler airflow.
Offer it pre-painted in OEM colors for under $400 and you're gonna sell a ton of 'em.
Heck, I'd like to get a 7.2L blown Hemi and mount a bird-scoop through the hood backwards. That way I can watch the butterflies dancing as I drift away... but we know that's not gonna happen.

here is an image of a homebrew snorkel. I would attempt to build one, but I am afraid it would look to unprofessional. I would like to see a kit for this and an added attachment for extra length when needed
