will this be tying into the stock air box or will you be providing a new air box? If it is tying into the stock air box will there be a replacement duct from the box to the throttle body? Something of a smooth design to help out the air flow instead of the turbulent stock piece? Heck I would even buy that smooth tube now since it would help performance some.

It will use the stock designed filter and reuse the upper housing. So the answer at this time is that it will reuse the short OE intake tube from the box.

There are several good reasons for doing this. Yes a new tube would look good and maybe allow a little better flow but at this time we want to keep cost down and feel that this is not needed. It is an easy fix or addition later on.

So what you are saying is that I'll have to find a OEM air box.

You guys should sell a new smooth hard tube with silicone adapters at each end. I would buy this right now as it would even help on a stock setup while we wait for the snorkel.

Good point..... As for the air box you would only need the top part that the short tube goes to.

Not at all, that is the purpose of the silicone couplers. They allow the needed flex to maintain a good seal. It could even be a smooth silicone tube connecting the air box to the engine. This would allow all the movement you could want but provide a smooth unhindered air flow. The cone filter plays a part in why cold air intakes work better but the smooth profile of the tube plays a huge role.

The reason that it is taking so long is due to having to stop R&D so they could finish up all the other items that they already had slated for the SEMA show.

I think this was one of those out of the blue ideas that popped up when they already had their plate full.

If you read the whole post, Rugged Ridge has been very upfront and honest about the whole thing. (Hope this doesn't come off as rude...just trying to inform) If I remeber, I think they are aiming for a May/June time frame.

HTH

Yeah, but can you find it to buy and how expensive? I couldn't wait either, so I just went AEV - david at northridge gave me a deal I couldn't pass on. Maybe I'm going to kick myself later...guess I'll see.
