I agree. On many river crossings it's the entry into the river (off of the bank) where you really put your front end in for a dip. Once you get in, the water probably is never going to be as deep as the shorter snorkel (at least if you don't want to float away like a boat).

Also, the JK has been known to throw water into the air box just by driving through, even a foot deep, too fast, causing hydro lock. This eliminates that entirely.

Hmmm i do not second that. Last weekend we were playing in a river, going fast, splashing water, water was sometimes lower than one foot, sometimes deeper (safe enough to be playing there without snorkels) and to my suprise, after a while playing i went to check my engine and it was dry as if there was no water at all, maybe it dry quickly because of engine temp, but the truth is that the stock air dam does a great job keeping as much splashing water as possible away from the front part of the engine and the air intake.

It is my understanding that this also serves to provide the engine with much cooler temperature air. The air now comes from OUTSIDE the engine compartment completely, theoretically allowing for cooler air temperatures to be sent to the engine.

You got lucky. I have a friend who was playing in water, just driving fast through it, and he hydro locked it, needed to be towed to a shop who needed to replace several valves. He happened to catch the who thing on video for the non believers. It's on you tube somewhere.

Sorry for being away from the forum for several weeks. Lots of projects in the works.

Anyway we will be seeing our first preproduction samples at the end of this month. Each item will be tested and corrections made if needed. I will post up images when we are doing the installations test.

Getting closer!

Yeah!!! Now I have a '12 on the way. I hope the connections between the snorkel and Pentastar airbox will fit. I'm guessing it will be a little different. Can't wait.
