Got a JK 2010 with 600miles on it right now.. AT LEAST once a day, the first gear pop out and come back to neutral with a huge bang noise. I'm back from my dealer where the JK came from and the guy told me that he need to change the whole transmission for a new one. Under warranty yeah.. but is it "normal" ? Do that appear to be a common problem ? Somebody had the same problem before and does the transmission swap solved the problem ?

Yeah i'm pretty happy that they will change the transmission.. but i'm just wondering if it's "normal" or not..

No other problem, I love my JK. Just the damn first gear pop out..

 

There are tons of threads on the issue.

No dealer can quite tell you exactly what the problem is, but it is a common one in the JK.

Many have just replaced the lower shift boot and seen an improvement, while others have not.

If they are replacing the tranny under warranty, all you can do is say yay! If it doesnt solve the problem, try the lower shift boot.

But don't sweat it too much, many have the same issue as you do.

Ok fine.. it's a "common" problem.. just wondering if it can be repaired or not now. With a new tranny, new lower shift boot if it doesn't help.. the problem should be fixed or I must be prepaired to live with it ??

Do a JK with manual tranny that the 1st gear stay in place exist or not ??

 

Get if fixed, mine has never jumped out of gear and I have nearly 30k miles on it.

 

Never done it to me and I've got 45k KM on mine.

Hey MasterG mine did it 2-3 time last summer and never did it gain...
JK was in third gear and the noise it make was like " shit the tranny's broken down " but no issue at all.

 

Nice thanks for the info... mine actually do it like every 2 red lights.. 4-5-6 times daily easily. I hate the noise too. Seem like the tranny want to pop out and continue the ride alone..


Tomorrow, 7h15 am, new tranny will be installed on my JK. Can't wait to see if the 1st gear prob will be gone after that.

Mine never did it till i put the 1" body lift on, after that it had done it a couple time is second gear but after a couple months it hasn't really done it again.
