Mine has never popped out and I have the daystar light switch panel in the way.

 

This happened to me this morning (I Think) I thoutght some one hit me. For now i guess I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't happen again.

 

New 2009 JK started popping out of first regularly from mile one. By 1000 miles I knew it was a transmission problem..not my lazy shifting.

Took to dealer who duplicated problem with and without shift boots. Chrysler ok's new transmission under a STAR number authorization.

Now have over 5500 very pleasurable driving miles since the transmission is now shifting flawlessly.

Got very good Dealer Service too so I will plug them....Ron Carter in TC Texas

My Dealer has replaced the whole trany with a new one. Problem solved at 100%. Never popped out again with the new tranny.

 

had it happen maybe three or four times with 98,000k. but I hold onto my shifter most of the times as I am not in first gear long. I have tested it and see if I could get it to come out and could not. Lucky I guess

 

My jeep pops out of first once every 2 or 3 months but I worry that it might get worse in the near future. I'm out of warranty and the 2nd owner of the jeep so the lifetime powertrain doesn't apply to me.

How much would it cost to fix/replace the first gear syncro if I had it done at a standard mechanic? Does anyone know?

I definitely don't have to do it now but I'm just wondering incase it gets worse sometime.

Have an 08 and have the same issue dealer won't fix as he keeps saying it does n't do it when he has it

Damn that sucks.. My mechanics dont ever try my JK with my old tranny.

I just told him that my first gear wont stop popping out of gear with a BANG and I told him too that i've tried to hold the stick in place with no luck.. The stick had popped out of gear in my hand. ** possible injury maybe ? ** Make them affraid of letting you drive your JK out of the dealer again !! They surely swap your tranny too then. In all honesty, my JK popped a gear 1 time per day. I told the guy that the first gear pop every 2 red light and told him too that the stick had popped in my hand when moving and nearly hit my front arm. its "dangerous"....

You should tell your dealer that the stick pop out in your hand when was in first gear.. and thats hurt. ma dealer was "affraid" to leave me drive my JK home when I was waiting for the new tranny ( and the tranny was installed the next day ). If your dealer REALLY dont want to do anything, go see another one. You have a TSB too for that problem so he HAVE to follow Chrysler proc to fix your problem.
