48K and no problems. Now, second gear can be a nuisance when the tranny is cold, but that's a different issue ...

Mine has done it a few times 1..2..4 in the first 2 weeks I had it..made a app. for my rear flare being replace and told them about it ..they said they never heard of it..lol but it hasn't done it since..get the new tranny and bitch until it's fixed..I also found that when it was new that sometimes I didn't put the shifter in the gate right and it would pop..not a nice sound now I make sure it is in. The tranny feel is so soft on these.

Yeah i'm pretty happy that they will change the transmission.. but i'm just wondering if it's "normal" or not..

No other problem, I love my JK. Just the damn first gear pop out..

Mine is a 09 JK 10 000km and I have the same problem exept its with the 2nd gear but it only happen when my jeep is not warmed up, after 10min of riding it come back to normal.

Arrow It's happening to me too.

This is an ongoing problem for me... getting worse.
Unless the mechanic at the dealership can get it to happen while he is driving it, they won't do anything about it. (I stop in and grab him every once in a while and it has yet to happen on our spins around the block.)
It is maddening really... but what can you do?

Luckily I have an extended warranty and I am just going to let it get out of hand before I leave it with them for an extended period...

~~~>Oh & I have replaced the inner shift boot hoping that was my issue, but it isn't.
Ok.. I'm back from my dealer with the new tranny installed and actually, I can feel the difference when I put the lever in first gear. Sound like the old one had something weird for real. Never poped out of gear yet with the new tranny.
The tranny came from Mercedes-Benz (?!?) in a huge wood cratle with the Mercedes-Benz logo everywhere. The mechanics told me that theses new tranny got some problem fixed compare to the stock one. He was very confident and by now, I feel the same way just by the feel of the stick shift when engaging the first gear. Not the same feeling at all compared to the old one..
Nice to know maybe..
Much less than before.. Now its just a lil shake on the stick. Very normal.
Thats made a huge improvement IMO. Hope everything will be great with the new one.
The previous tranny also made the stick feel like "rubber" when inserting in 1st gear slot. The new one feel very accurate and no more "rubbery" feel. You can even hear the "tic" when the stick hit the bottom of the slot. Can't hear that before.. was more like a "boing" on some rubber or soft material.
Damn that sucks.. My mechanics dont ever try my JK with my old tranny.
I just told him that my first gear wont stop popping out of gear with a BANG and I told him too that i've tried to hold the stick in place with no luck.. The stick had popped out of gear in my hand. ** possible injury maybe ? ** Make them affraid of letting you drive your JK out of the dealer again !! They surely swap your tranny too then. In all honesty, my JK popped a gear 1 time per day. I told the guy that the first gear pop every 2 red light and told him too that the stick had popped in my hand when moving and nearly hit my front arm. its "dangerous"....
Good luck !
OK! Results after 2 days; New tranny completely solve the problem.
1st gear never popped out since the swap of tranny. I think it's nice to know for those who got the same trouble.. just go to your dealer !! Mine was very kind and didn't even try my JK before ordering my new tranny under warranty.
Good Luck and thanks for your help/answer !!!
