Dealer fixed my soft top leak....
flip your top back, take the door surrounds off. where the bolt comes out of the surround and goes into the roll bar, place the washer there. The theory is that it will lift the surround just enough to provide a better seal with the top and door weatherstripping
i think i am going to roll with this. i currently am leak free, BUT my passenger door is tweaked in some to stop that leak above the door handle. (via the door latch) and is hard to close. think i'll mark the latch with tape, adjust the door back to normal, and try the washers. drivers side is fine, but i'll do both.
edit: done. hardest part was getting the top back (non sunrider) and slipping the washers in. tight fit. a plastic blade helped. well, all 4 installed. gave it a good soaking and all dry. readjusted my passenger door and hit the headliner sill with 303 protectant. THANKS FOR THIS FIX. next heavy rain will tell the outcome.

I just performed this fix. I have yet to test it out, but I have faith in it. Before I installed the washers their was a lot of play in the door surrounds even with the bolts torqued all the way down! That would explain why sometimes my top would leak and other times it would not. The surrounds would shift causing the leak. That surprised me! I installed the washers and now everything is snugged up with zero play. Bring on the rain!!
i also had new door seals replaced a few weeks back. mine had rips in the bottom.
. Since mine's a 4-Door, I might put a washer for the Rear Door handscrew bolts too though they don't leak there.
When I was putting the washer in the front one, I noticed how flat the foam weatherstripping had gotten there right next to the windshield. May have to replace them too

EDIT: Ok, went out and did the other two bolts. Now to wait for a rainy day and see how it works!
