I was wondering why being able to start your Jeep from a mile away would be important, 800 feet seems more than enough. Am I missing something ?

If you have to walk a mile before you get to your Jeep you got a really bad parking spot !

Default thanks

i had my wife get one first in her liberty. the thing works great. except they hooked up the stupid horn option getting that taken care of monday. 599 is to much. got mine done for 499 before they screwed up. total cost to me was 411 and the parts cost 399. not to shabby plus i get a discount on my jks starter. ill have to have a service tech lie to my face more often!! A mile away, A mile! please explain why you would need that. hey i started my car can i get a ride to go get it? but i guess if you need it. any way thank you for all the input. and it would be nice if they could add the button to the big key i have to drag around.

Remote start only works on Auto trans. You cannot remote start a manual unless you have something to engage the clutch...

Well the Mopar one I just got in the mail today says in huge letters on the front of the installation instructions....

"Warning! Remote Start Systems are only applicable to vehicles with automatic transmission!"

It's called a spousal unit. They're expensive.

i installed one on my old yj it was a stick my wife left it in gear and my 3 yr old got ahold of the keys. i have a bulge in the back of my garage wall!!! so it can be installed in a stick you just have to by pass the neutral safety switch. I assume jeep still has the the little bypass thing down by the clutch switch. I know the tj's had them.

Any body that put's a remote start on a vehical with stick shift is turning thier Jeep in to a potential weapon. It only takes one freak mishap.

Question Couple questions on Remote Start installation

I'm getting ready to install the MOPAR remote start kit into my JK this weekend. A couple of questions for those who have been through it... I've been looking over the instructions but a here is what's unclear to me:

1. The instructions on page 3 call for RTV Sealant as one of the tools required. However they really don't call out for it anywhere in the directions that I can see. There is the SKREEM Interface steps where it calls for use of the "supplied ampule of adhesive primer". I'm wondering if this is what they meant by RTV sealant or if it would be used elsewhere.

2. During reassembly the manual calls for using supplied wire ties to secure the SKREEM Interface module to "an existing wire harness under the dash". So basically zip tie the thing to a wire harness and let it hang somewhere like that? Seems it would be better to hard mount it to something, but what have others done about this? Is there a better mount location?

Thanks!
