but the rubi has an unfair advantage with the 4:1 low range. It is almost like it was designed to crawl.

I know mine wont stall in 1st/low. I have 35s with the stock 4.10 gears, so my crawl ratio has gone down a hair over stock with the taller tires. If im coming up on an obstacle that idle/1st/low is to fast for, I put on the brakes, and it slows w/o stalling. Hell I pushed the brake pedal to the floor and the damn thing just get trying to go, overpowering my brakes, w/o stalling.

Thanks for the input. Good to know that this works on an X too.

That's what I have and according to the post above, it shouldn't matter X or Rubi. As has been previously posted, this is not 100% full proof, but it's a REALLY great tip when a crawl is needed.

I'll be interested to hear from an Atlas owner. My guess is that the lower your rig is geared the better that this will work.

Did this with my 6 speed Sahara yesterday. Could hardly hold it in place with the brakes. Great tip. I heard that to stop you switch the ignition off. Can even stay off the clutch completely since it will start in 4Lo without the clutch AND in 1st gear.

Simply amazing. I had no idea my Jeep would do this. My wife might even be able to drive it now that I know it's very hard to stall. The last time I tried to teach her was in an extremely modified '84 Mustang. She ended up getting it sideways and almost crashing into a pole. I said NEVER again! But now I'm thinking big, underpowered, almost impossible to stall. Maybe I'll try to teach her one last time.

Doubt it would work in my X with the standard T-Case and 3.21 gears!

Try it. 3.21's here too. And regular T-case. And it works.
