I was going to go with the TJ Luk clutch (04-06 crosses to the 07-08....but not the later years for whatever reason). I went with Spec stage 1 but hoped to go to the Luk. It may be my next if we get decent reviews here.

Just looked at Rockauto and the Luk 01046 clutch kit is for 2007 to 2011. And the 2006 TJ has a different part number, 05065. I linked the spec sheets, the differences are small. Wondering if there was some misinformation in the past about part numbers? Karl, where did you get that info about the 04-06 TJ crossing to the 07-08 JK?

It's been a while since I changed the clutch but I think it was a combo of matching other part numbers and Amazon. The TJ clutch was minutely larger in diameter but the interwebs said it would work with the JK flywheel.

Remember seeing it before too. Maybe there's a connection between using the Luk TJ clutch in a JK and the issue the OP mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

I agree, it would be nice to have confirmation on both the Luk for the TJ and for the JK.

Finally found a link to the Luk repset 2015-2016 catalog. On page 156 (page 158 in adobe reader) are the clutches for Wranglers and CJ's. Number 01-046 is for the 3.8L JK. However, for the JK they just say 2007-2008 and I'm pretty sure Rockauto is right that it fits 2009-2010 as well. For a 97-06 TJ it's 05-065.

So I wonder if the fitment issues were tied to the fact they were trying to use a clutch for a Wrangler TJ?

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe there was a delay in coming out with a JK clutch.

I just wish that someone that's installed one could confirm this.
