Standard here, I find driving too boring without it. Except in a f'n traffic jam. Then I curse it!!

No I agree, I could never imagine driving an auto. I was just curious about everyone elses opinions and what they chose. Thanks for the replies.

I've always liked manuals better (they're more fun). But these days I drive an auto. I broke my ankle a few years ago and trying to drive to work with a manual was very painful.

Since my jeep's my DD, it's an auto. My sports car is a manual of course.

Personal preference = 6 speed

Autos = more consistent to wheel for most people

Either way, they both have that fly-by-wire gas pedal which has always made me feel funny.......

Auto. Driving in Pittsburgh = Hills, Tunnels, Stop-N-Go traffic on hills, more hills, bridges. Did I mention hills?

It's just easier for me.

I considered purchasing a Manual, but since I wasn't too good with it, and given that the majority of my driving was in-town, I figured I'd play it safe and go with the Auto.

I prefer the 6 speed for sure. With that said, however, there's always one day each year when you're stuck in the most rediculous traffic you've ever experienced and you curse the day you turned down the chance to drive an auto.

Other than that one day, I'm 100% happy with the manual!! It is all down to personal preference, though. People have their reasons for going either way, and it's sometimes annoying when I see people making fun of auto drivers at work.

If I had my way, which unfortunately won't happen, automatic would not even be offered in any vehical. All should be manual. Lucky for us Jeep still offers manual and Dodge still offers manual in even the big trucks, where Chevy has completely discontinued the manual in big trucks and Ford might as well have since you can't find them. Anyone with the manual count your blessings, guys with the auto count your money because you're going to need it to keep them working. I made the mistake of an auto in a 1997 F350 Ford. The truck will last me the rest of my life except for that lttle mistake, that stupid, STUPID automatic. After rant, I'll vote manual as the better way to go x1000.
