I picked up the short stem version at a Harley dealer last week for $17. The fit in the door hinge is perfect and they are solid even at high speed (no shaking). I'm not a huge fan of chrome on the Jeep so I may eventually paint it but anyway here's how it looks mounted

Default Wing nut

For people who have those Harley mirrors, can you use a wing nut to stabilize the mirror? I like the idea, but I just wanted to be able to take it off easily when you have to put the doors back on. A wing nut should work, shouldn't it?

I don't see why you couldn't use a wing-nut. But honestly I don't see you saving time over simply unscrewing the nut that comes with the harley mirror.

Looks nice but wouldn't it become a tedious task to remove that factory mirror from the door and then mount them to the bracket each time you want to run doorless? I guess I could see this working if I bought an extra set of factory mirrors but I don't run doorless enough to justify that expense.

For a messy guy like me, it takes a long time for me to look for the right tool if I can find it.

Check out the salvage yards could find an extra set of stock mirrors for cheap

Since you are using the stock mirrors.. It looks factory which is nice..
Thank you both for the kind words. We really worked the design to make these have a nice style and flow with the Jeep. It was important to not just have another bracket, but most important was to give you the best possible visibility, steadiness, and function.

By the way, we're having problems with getting the online credit card processing setup, but we can still take orders -- just in a slightly more hokey fashion. Send me a PM and I'll take care of you.

We've had a few people express interest in getting extra mirrors. And with the initial design I was concerned about the time for that step. I ran the prototype last fall for awhile before it got cold and switched them off semi-frequently (not every day, but a few times a week). And I can say it's only annoying the first one or two times. It adds about a minute to each side -- nothing like putting up or taking down the soft top. The extra benefit is that it makes storing the doors easier.
