If I was just going to some trails with the doors off the Harley Mirrors are a quick fix to stay legal. If I planned on driving the whole summer doorless I would definately get the mirror brackets from www.dietechoffroad.com/products.

pics of my H-D mirror mounted. It's the tapered mirror in black - I think I paid $35 for it. There are 2 versions of the same shape - long stem and short stem - mine is the short stem.

Here is a pic of the mirror from the H-D website.

It is small, but I have no problem seeing what's behind me. No vibration at all when it is mounted.

With the harley mirrors is it even worth getthing the passender side? Just curious if you can even see it. (never had my doors off yet to size it up...)

I ran this setup last summer. It was actually exactly the same model mirror as HJ97TJ shows in post 11 above.

You don't need any tools to install/uninstall it. If you use the mirror itself for leverage when tightening, you can easily hand-tighten it enough to keep it solidly in place even at highway speeds. You'll see what I mean when you install it.

Short story: no wingnut needed.

I noticed on some sites they're listed that way, but here are how the parts are defined in the part number catalog (nothing half or full door specific):

Right (passenger) mirror
55077966AC -- 2WD/4WD, 2DR/4DR
55077967AC -- 2WD/4WD, 2DR/4DR, with swingaway
55077968AC -- 4WD (RHD), 2DR/4DR, manual remote control

Left (driver) mirror
55078131AC -- 2WD/4WD, 2DR/4DR, manual remote control
55077969AC -- 4WD (RHD), 2DR/4DR
55078024AC -- 4WD (RHD), 2DR, with swingaway

I think these part numbers refer only to the assembly. The glass is separate as are the bolts. I can get those part numbers for you if needed too.

I've never seen anything but the swing-aways. The mounting point to the Jeep is the same regardless.

Maybe the bottom of the barrel models have fixed mirrors?

I know that the short arm version that I have wouldn't work for a pass side mirror. The long arm version might.

In NJ, you only have to run 2 mirrors, (including your interior rear view) so I won't be getting one for the pass side.

From what I can tell based on the pictures I have of mine with the full doors vs. the halves, there don't appear to be any differences. My half doors mirrors are also the fold in type.

Not the greatest pics for comparison, but for anyone who wants to see a side by side comparison:

Just put one on this weekend, didn't take any pictures but it fit great in the door hinge opening. Harley part number 91931-92T - short round chrome mirror.

I got the Rugged Ridge mirror replacement brackets and the passenger side is useless. But i like it. it takes getting use too but it just makes doorless driving easy. Plus its easy to move the mirriors back to the stock position on winter months
