You are going to get a lot of this is the best and that is the worst, especially against fram. I've used fram for almost 35 years and have never had a problem. Any place that sells filters will have the correct part # for which ever you want. I always get mine at wally world.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried searching today but didn't find what I wanted so I thought Id share my results from all my research today.

Stock Mobil-1 oil filter for the JK is M1-102

when I looked at it the other day I was not impressed so knowing that it's fairly common to use a larger filter I searched until I found one for us.

Mobil-1 M1-209.

This is a direct fit but is about twice as long, I just changed the oil tonight at 3k with 5-20 Mobil-1 and the M1-209 oversized filter. It pokes out a little but fits fine.

While searching online I found info from another forum where a person called and actually asked a mobil tech about the 102 and 209 and it was confirmed by the tech that the thread size, anti-drain back valve and everything were the same it's just longer.

I made a quick cross referance with some of the common filters and the larger equivalent. I also found that the larger filter is actually the Stock 3.7L Commander filter.

With the K&N oil filter you can use a 1 inch wrench or socket which seems really practical to me.

Who uses a wrench. If you need a filter wrench, you have it on too tight.

better oil makes a difference(Mobil one)on how long you can run on it.so if you run it longer then 3000 mile you need a better oil filter.I do not think your going to get one answer that ever one will agree on for oil,oil filter and how many miles for oil changes.I run Mobil one with a Mobil one oil filter for 7500 miles and change the filter at 3750 miles and 7500.right or wrong i don't know.I sure i will buy a new wrangler in 3 to 5 years and never know if help or hurt my jeep but it's worked for my for the last 15 years of so.
