Rolling up the rear plastic Window
Yea, I'm the one who started this thread. I love how people get all pissed off over nothing and start making all kinds of assumptions. For the record, I'm 30 and here is a quick rundown of the jeeps I've owned thru the last 14 years:
1973 CJ5
1991 YJ
1994 YJ
1995 YJ
1998 TJ
2001 TJ
2008 JK
I belong to 2 jeep clubs, and here is a picture of my last TJ I owned before my current Rubicon

Excuse me for spending $32k on a vehicle, and getting a little pissed when my windows get scratched for using them the way Jeep reccomends. Yes, I wheel my jeep and No I'm not affraid of trail damage. I just don't tolerate inferior/crappy mfg windows.
And for all you "Internet Tough Guys", get bent!

Something that I also noticed was that with some people if you don't treat your Jeep like absolute Sh|t then you aren't a true Jeeper. It's like, "If you didn't break something then you weren't hard-core enough." BS
I am all for taking it out and enjoying myself, but I am NOT some sort of sellout because I would like to keep my Jeep in decent shape.
My 2008 Wrangler is the first new vehicle I have owned (before that it was a rusted out 1991 YJ and THAT was well past worrying about every little thing) and I plan on keeping it for a VERY long time.
There is nothing wrong with me enjoying owning a clean new vehicle for a while. I will have PLENTY of time to "beat it up" in the years to come.

My first Jeep was a 1991 YJ, I just rolled up the windows and the straps over time scratch the shit out of them. I only had a soft top so it also got exposed to winter salt, etc. By the time I sold the Jeep 5 years later, the back window was barely see through.
When I bought my 1997 TJ, from my prior experience, I always unzipped the windows and kept them in a window bag. It worked well to keep scratches to a minimum.
Now with my 2008 JK, I use a Cloverpatch Window Roll and unzip the windows all the time, it has kept them scratch free thus far.

BTW: I don't think those puppies are real.
