Default Transmission fluid ?

Okay so I bought the allens and bottle pump to change my transmission fluid today. I went to the dealership and was going to buy the mopar brand fluid, but they want about 23 dollars a quart for it, that's crazy! What is a good fluid to buy at an auto parts store that's decently priced and performs well in manual transmission?

I use Valvoline ATF+4 Full Synthetic. For use in all Jeep and Chrysler vehicles.

Don't use atf+4 in your 6 speed. The only fluid compatible i found is pennzoil synchromesh manual transmission fluid. There may be others, you just have to go to a parts store and read the bottle to see if it meets spec for ms9224.

lol that would of been bad news..haha. Like said Pennzoil has it, check out your local auto parts store. Stealership is always a rip off!

Have fun changing the fluid. If you are dropping the pan, there are about 2 bolts that area a pain in the ASS!!!!! One was so difficult to get back in (the proper way would be to remove the exhaust) I just left it out all together!!! LOL... No problems at all running one bolt short.

Easy mistake to make. The term "Transmission Fluid" is usually reserved for automatic transmissions.

Manual transmission doesn't have a pan.
