This Jeep Wrangler Owner Returned to Life On the Road After Quitting
A young Jeep Wrangler owner moved back into their rig full-time after paying for an apartment for a year, saying ‘to grow is to be free.’
Loui, a Jeep Wrangler owner based out of Alaska, recently moved back into her rig named “Black Panther” after taking a year off to live in a studio apartment. Beforehand, she’d lived out of her Jeep full-time and spent the majority of her days traveling to different parts of the world, but quickly found herself trapped in a financial bind.
“I was burnt out and pretty broke,” she said in a video. “I don’t know if you guys are also experiencing it, but I feel like inflation definitely did make traveling not feel worth it anymore. I was spending so much money on gas and groceries, and I just couldn’t keep up.”
Emotionally, Loui found herself feeling lonely on the road — despite having her Pitbull companion, William. Her father had passed away earlier this year, which left a hole she felt only a supportive community could fill.
“I’m not someone that generally gets lonely,” she said. “I like to be alone a lot and I love to sit with myself, but because of my dad’s passing I think I needed more of a support system than I realized.”
So, she moved to the main island of Alaska and rented a studio apartment for a year, which for her, helped bring her back to her roots of loving the great outdoors.
On the Road Again
Loui quickly grew tired of her corporate job and paying rent to move back into her Jeep. Luckily, though, her time in the apartment wasn’t bad – she just voiced her distaste for paying a high monthly fee.
“Honestly I got tired of paying $800 a month to help someone else pay off their mortgage, when I can be living in my Jeep and going wherever I want,” she said. “To grow is to be free.”
Thankfully was able to pass her apartment over to her mother, who now lives there while she too takes time to heal from her husband’s passing. Now, Loui is making her way further north to explore that small Alaskan island.
