I was reading through some of the threads about all this military talk. It truly is a great life, if as you stated, people join for the "right" reason. Rupe I didn't know you were in law enforcement. Hubby just took over the Sercurity Forces Squadron here at LRAFB, security forces is the equivalent of MP's for the Air Force. Boy do they keep him hopping as the Commander. We knew this was going to be a busy demanding job, but wow. The poor guy never sleeps. But he loves his job.

Well, hopefully I will be back on the forum a little more regular again. I sure missed everybody.
Congorats on a succesful move
I hope they didn't lose any of your stuff (they always managed to liberate a few of my posessions everytime i had to PCS)
Tell 'em congorats on the new assignment too!
Welcome back, hope you find some great places there to go explore.

Well hello 007divegirl, glad to see you made it and are back on the site. I'm doing better each day, but it is a long slow healing process. Still in a brace and still on meds. Yes I spent 17 years as a cop until I got tired of it. I quit in 2000, so it's been awhile now. I miss the money and the bennies, but that's about it. (the signs of getting old) So how are you liking Little Rock? Sent me a PM when you get a chance. Glad your back. later Rupe

the MP's in the navy are Master-at-Arms, and they are also a sea-going rate (we don't have MOS). there is Physical Security school, that any rate can do. that is closer to the shore MP thing you are thinking of. ask the recruiter about 9545.
also, navy recuiters do get a little incentive pay, but not enough to make it worth it. your work day doesn't start until school lets out, poor performance marks for not making quotas. for most squids it is a second or third tour thing. E5-E6, warfare qualified, and nice, shiny evals.

Do they still have NIS? (Naval Invest. Service) It's only been 29 years so I'm sure things have changed. I'm not even sure if that is the correct name for it anymore. Like I said gettin old.

Late to the party,

Active duty USAF, heading up to Malmstrom AFB in a few days. I already hear AEV calling my name.

Yes they do. But the name has changed to Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Recruit Caboose,

Awesome brother! Many years from now, when you look back at your time in the service, you will not be sorry. It was 21 years ago when I joined. Still remember my recruiter picking me up at the front door and taking me to MEPS. Only time I remember seeing my dad shed a tear.

God be with you,
Gar
