I read through all this, then downloaded Garage Talk to give it a fair shot. But, I've got to say, that app completely sucks! Who wants a bland, generic interface, no forum-specific logos and the list goes on? I've become really fond of this community since purchasing my JK, but I mostly access it via my phone. If Garage Talk becomes effectively the only way to do so, I'll move on to greener pastures.

 

Tapatalk was easy to use and MUCH more polished. Both the jk forum app and garage talk feel like they should have been left back in 2010.

Anyone know why Tapatalk was axed?

 

Money.

 

Tapatalk was killed so GarageTalk could live. The owner of JKForum is Internet Brands. IB made GarageTalk. Money is made by advertising on the forums. GT allows access to multiple forums, meaning multiple streams of income. All controlled in house through GT. The value for IB is now in GT. The individual forums are now just sub-brands of GT. Now if IB were to sell, it has more value selling GT instead of just sub forums. Follow the money.
