Hi All,

I recently installed the Cobra 75 on my 2011 and used it for the first time on the trail yesterday. Any time I clicked on the mic, my radio would shutdown and re-start and my wipers would go off. Looked like the damn thing was possesed! I'm thinking it's the wiring, but just wanted to get some feedback from you guys first.

Thanks in advance!

Your battery might be dying! Electrical systems in many newer Chrysler vehicles seem to do the same thing when the computer doesn't get enough power. My father-in-laws brand new 300 was doing the same thing. Checked the battery, had the dealer replace it under warrantee. Happened again a week later. Replaced dead battery again and updated the computer due to an apparent problem with the hands free locking mechanisms. There are a bunch of threads about our JKs going hay wire with the similar problems.

Good luck!

I agree. May as well be the first thing you check. Just over a year ago, my 3-1/2 year old battery died as I was airing up after a trail run. The wipers had a mind of their own. Replaced the battery and all was well.

Obviously, it could be something else, but is as good a place to start as anything.

The battery issue as mentioned above could be it; however, you don't mention how you have your CB wired? Do you go straight to the battery or have you tied in to another power source?

I'm wired straight to the battery. The jeep is only 8 months old - hate to see battery issues already. What's the best way of checking to see if the battery is the issue?

Head to Auto Zone, Advance, or some other local auto parts store and ask them to test your battery. They can do it without pulling the battery from your Jeep.

The CB box is installed under the glove box on the metal bracket and quick disconnect on the panel beneath the glove box. (This is wired directly to the battery)

Cooltech VersaMount with cb mic bracket riveted in ...

Finally, the mic mounted on the CoolTech VersaMount:

That's it...it sounds great and the antenna tuned real well...off to the trails !!!
Exactly how I did mine after reading your post. THANKS!
