I used the mount that came with the radio. It was tight & put some strong double back tape to help out with the screws.

 

If your state has a no cell law like we do in Nevada. Having all the buttons on the mic would make it illegal. The way the law is written cb's are exempt because they only one button on the mic.

I have a 6 spd 2 door, so I will have to rule out the passenger side of the consule. And the idea of having it above the mirror doesn't appeal to me. Are there any other suggestions as to where a cb can be mounted?

I attached two brackets to the bottom of it, and then used that velcro tape on the center console and bottom of the brackets. The console still flips up easily, and it doubles as an arm rest.

It was a temporary spot that I have just never bothered to invest more time into because it really doesn't bother me

The mounting bracket is one of the metal portions that were cut off when I stubbied my factory front bumper.

Incredibly cheap and easy, some would call it "ghetto," but it works and protects the CB from mud showers.

When you guys install the radio on top of the rear view mirror do you run the coax through the roll bar or under the carpet all the way to the back?

Any advantages or caveats using either option?

 

I ran it under the roll bar padding from the windshield to behind the front seat and under the carpet from there. Carpet's gone now so it's zip tied with the other wires running back there at the top of the tub, passenger side.

 

I ran my coax along the top of the roll bar (under the padding) using something to fish it (a straightened hanger). I ran it all the way to the rear roll bar support and then down. Since I mounted my antenna on the passenger side... there's a rubber grommet near the rear roll cage support where the tail light cabling enters the fender... I created a small hole and ran the coax through that.

I picked up my antenna mount at a local CB supply store... and its designed to be hardwired to the coax. I went with the passenger rear corner at a friend's suggestion but I will say this was very difficult since you have to work through the taillight opening and there's a metal flange that stickes out just before the mount (you'll see it in my second pic).

The alternate location (suggested by the CB store) was to the right of the driver's taillight (between the taillight and gate). There's an indentation or thin section of the body (felt when the taillight is removed) where the mount can be attached... probably easier to wire but you'll do it blind since due to the extreme angle. The antenna will also be in the way of opening the hard top rear glass as the antenna would barely overlap.
