Factory radio cuts out, help!
I have the same problem, for a long time too. Even when I have an I-pod plugged into the accessory jack. I actually came to this thread looking for how to remove the dash piece over the unit to check for loose wiring. Sometimes it works OK for a while. Sometimes I can't hardly listen to it. It cuts out for half a second or a second every 2 to 10 seconds.
Hopefully we can solve this, I'm still under warranty, but not close to a dealership, and I can't rely on it happening when I take it in or I would have by now.
Thanks for starting this thread Dwikto
Now I'll read the thread Clownhunter69 linked to.

I had the muting problem and they fixed that. The problem we are having is just the left channel and sub cut out. You can still hear sound out of the right side. It usually happens when the car is cold. You can actually hear the amp click on and the left side and sub work fine. This happens for regualr radio, CD and Sirius.
Just found this post.
I've been having the same issue also for a while.
The dealership said it was the amp. Instead of paying $400+ for a new one, I got one from another member and the same thing was happening (radio, sirius, or cd). I bought an aftermarket deck and had it installed. Same problem.
I'm taking it in to a good shop who is going to troubleshoot it.
They are going to test each speaker line and see if there is a problem. They think that the way the JK is assembled in the factory, there is potential that one of the wire runs got pinched or the shielding stripped away and its causing the amp to short out intermittently.
I'll post more when I find out tomorrow.

my mygig does this sometimes like today the sound did not work i turned the jeep off went into a local auto parts store came out about 20 min after started it up and the music was playing. i never use the navigation i was thinking of selling the unit and then buying an aftermarket radio and a portable gps and still have some money left over
Audio shop did a full diagnostic on the entire system. Every speaker and line was fine. Head unit and amp are fine. The only thing they can't test is the Jeep's bus unit (from the CPU that controls the power on the amp and all the other electrical stuff like door chimes, interior lights, etc.)
They are going to put an aftermarket amp in next week and power the rears and sub with it, while wiring the fronts and tweeters directly to the head unit, since its putting out 22W RWS, which is comparable to the Infinity amp anyway.
What a friggin' pain! And not cheap! $$$

I have this problem, but only after having a problem with everything in my steering column becoming nonfunctional. After taking it in for service, I got it back and noticed it on the drive home.
Anyhow, by simply hearing what it was doing the service manager said they were going to replace the head unit, as it is still under warranty.

I have the stock stereo(single disk) and it just started to do this has anybody found out any thing yet? mine does it with radio/cd/and aux. then it will just get better for awhile, then out of the blue (for no reson that I can find) it does it again for about 15 min then back to normal.
