Ok...that makes a little more sense. I would still be prepared to reap what you sow with a possible ticket. At least with them being on only with the high beams there'll be less of a chance.

I personally am leaving them stock for now. I'd love to be able to run them with highs and low beams, but otherwise, just stock and aimed correctly.

I'm not familiar with the stock fog lights. How do they operate? Is there a condition where they will NOT come on? I thought they had their own seperate switch and circiut.

stock fogs have a separate switch that allows you to turn them on with the parking lights or headlights are on. They automatically cut out if you put your high beams on.

Never noticed that the stock fogs will come on with just the parking lights, so I just tried it and they do. Well, learn something new everyday. Thanks for that bit of info.
As for having fogs on with high beams, I agree it would be a great combination, however there is a reason it is illegal in most states that won't let you marry your sister.
Approaching a vehicle that has both high beams and fogs is much worse than approaching a vehicle whith just the high beams on. When the asshole keeps his high beams on you can at least look to the side a bit, and still see the road. But since fogs are designed to scatter the light directly in front of the vehicle, it makes it much worse the closer you get to the vehicle.
Illegal lighting is a pet peeve of mine. My wife was blinded by some asshole with a bunch of aux lighting one night and ran off the road into a ditch. Our grand daughter was also in the vehicle. I thank God for watching over them, as they were just bruised and shaken up a bit.
Now any time I see a vehicle with blinding lights approaching, it takes all I have to not go into total road rage.

Sounds like it might work... anyone else concur or have additional suggestions? Someone must have tried something like this already, right?

That's how they should operate. High beams in fog reflect directly back at the vehicle.

listen, no one ever said they'd be using their high beams DURING FOG. They just said they wanted to use their fog lights at any time (ie, with high beams) in clear dark weather.

Ok. You're right. No one ever did say that. They also never said they wouldn't be. So, how was I supposed to know? All I was trying to do was get more info on what you were trying to accomplish. I can take a hint. When I see crap like this, "however there is a reason it is illegal in most states that won't let you marry your sister.", I don't need to try to help anymore.

LOL. I didn't say that! It's all good. I don't think anyone, well, not me or the OP'er at least, was trying to offend. Just gather data. I always figure the people on here who are trying to modify their Jeeps for the better, know enough to not drive with high beams on in fog. Those laws and the overrides in controls that the manufacturers design, are for the other 99% of the morons out there. "DUH, I CAN'T SEE IN THIS FOG. I BETTER ADD MORE LIGHT TO THE SITUATION! THERE, HIGH BEAMS ON IN SNOW STORM. NOW I CAN REALLY SEE THE SNOW FLAKES BETTER!"

That being said, I'm about to attempt to drive to work without doors or freedom panels for the first time tomorrow since it will warm up to... 40! sO MAYBE WE'RE NOT SO SMART AFTERALL. dont' know when to come in out of the rain either.
