I agree 110% - For me it's a lot smoother and more sure footed climbing with an auto.

I wanted a manual when I bought mine but settled for an auto to get the other options I wanted. I was so-so about it until I got my Flashpaq and now I love it. It's my DD and I sit in traffic a lot so the auto is nice and it does fine in the sand and mud which is all we have around here. The Flashpaq stopped a lot of the "hunting" for gears on the interstate and made it shift better. It's my first automatic vehicle in 20 years and I would definitly consider getting one in my next Jeep although if I can find one I like I'll probably buy the manual.

This hasn't been mentioned as a consideration yet but...... Less car thieves know how to drive a manual.

I drive a stick, and i love it.
Just funner to drive, and you have more control over the vehicle.
And ...Plus hearing about all these other pros makes it prettty cool.

Same "theory" goes for about every other car made today that gets stolen. Happens every day..

There was a report recently on a car jacking failing due to the guys couldn't drive a stick and bailed lol

I don't need three feet because my manual starts in gear without using the clutch when in low range. It even starts without the clutch in reverse. Kinda scary if you think you are going to go forward.

Default starts w/o clutch

I didn't know a manual would start w/o using the clutch. That was one of my main concerns about getting a manual. Will all manual transmissions do that?

My JK will key-start in gear so long as I'm in 4LO. I vaguely recall reading that isn't a feature on the newer variants, e.g. '09, '10? Meh, I could be all wet, I just know mine starts. I've used the feature a couple times after a stall, but don't stall so much these days with 4:1 t-case and 4.88s.

The 09-10 models also will start in 4LO without the clutch. Very nice feature if you happen to stall out on an incline.
