I was hoping to be able to use the factory glass for the two door and put a vent in the rear with what space is left. If the curvature of the side panel for the 2 door top I should be in pretty good shape. I am not concerned with the right to remove the top because I have a lift but I do like the idea of the removable sides. The only concern is how sturdy it will be given that the b pillar is removed on the JK8. I will reread your DIY modular top post and order material this weekend.

Is the info on the hinge and operator that you used for the power venting window in one of your posts. Thanks for your guidance!
Power vent window info should be in one of the posts in this thread but in summary the hardware is from a Toyota FJ40, the motors are from a Chevy Venture minivan and the switch to control them is from a Land Rover Discovery.

This morning I was wondering what it would take to customize the LED pods to match the Jeep, perhaps having the lens bezels match the body color?

It turns out (pun intended) that the bezels are easy to unscrew, using long-nose pliers as a spanner wrench. The bezel could then be painted any color one wants, perhaps to match the body of the Jeep, and screwed back in place.

The company will likely offer a few optional bezel colors, but it would be very easy to customize them with a rattle can of touch-up paint to match the Jeep.

I wonder why nobody's done real flat fenders for the JK yet - as far as I know, there are no true flat fenders out there. There are some that are sort-of flat, but most follow the curve in the fender that the factory flares mount into so they don't look like the original Willys MB/CJ-2a fenders. I did this concept drawing to show what I'm talking about:

Are there none out there because nobody thinks true flatfenders would be a good look on the JK?

The closest to Flat Fenders are the Hurricane flat fenders, but your "rendering" is mouth-warering, as they look like the "classic " Flat Fender, and hopefully will be narrow so that stock wheels and tires will look good.
I like a tall skinny tire, and these would give the Vintage look, please do this !

That rendering looks great! I've always loved the look of the Willys fenders.

The Hurricane fenders are ones I put in the "almost flat" category - I don't like where the bolts go and the top isn't flat because of the grooves for the bolts. Also I think they're a plastic that doesn't take paint well and they have a grained texture, so you couldn't color match them.

A few years ago I did a set of fiberglass flat fenders for the TJ, I derived them directly from fiberglass replacement fenders for a CJ-2a, so they are very faithful to the original although I did add a mounting location for a later CJ side marker light which wasn't on the CJ-2a. Doing the project on the TJ was more involved than it would be on the JK because I also did inner fenders so the TJ version is a complete bolt-on replacement for the factory fenders - no cutting or mods involved and everything in the engine compartment bolts up to the stock locations on the inner fenders.

On the JK the project wouldn't involve inner fenders at all, all that would be required would be to make new outer flatfenders.

Thanks. I think my concept drawing is fairly close to what the fenders would look like if made in fiberglass and painted to match the body color.

This morning I made some "paper doll" mockups to see what the JK version might look like. The mockup needs a few adjustments, it's a bit wider in the rear than it should be, but overall I think it shows how these would look.

These would be pretty easy to make in fiberglass.

Is this the actual height they'd be, or is height exaggerated due to being an overlay?
If they are higher than stock coverage, would the gap be too big ?
If the Flat Fenders have same gap and tire coverage as stock, that really keeps "add on" expenses down

They would fit very much like the Hurricane fenders pictured below, but with a few differences. The tops of the Hurricane fenders start a few inches back from the grill, and slant back from there. Mine would start even with the grille and like the original flat fenders, wouldn't slant back - they'd be straight across the front. And of course mine would be perfectly flat and level across the tops, the Hurricane fenders slope down towards the outside.

I'd do the front of mine the same way I did the TJ version, shown here compared and original flat fender:

I think you can see the differences between the Hurricane fenders and my design in the photos of the cardboard mockups.

Like my TJ version (and the Hurricane fenders) I'd put a flush mounting location for a side marker light in mine, unlike the Hurricane mine would be designed to accept an original CJ-7 side marker light as I did on the TJ version.

That extra width at the back would catch pesky wheel spray that currently decorates the sides of my "Salt Block" .
How will the inner fenders work ? Anticipation !
