Ya but your old, so how you going to get those old knees of yours to climb up into a rooftop tent? ;-)

I'd love a RTT, but I cannot justify the costs of one plus a roof rack or a trailer.

Thanks! I'm really excited about it. As for options, I added a lid, roof rack, tailgate, nerf bars, stablizer jacks, ball coupler (for road) and pintle/lunette (for off-road), and full-length springs w/shocks. I ordered the wheels, tires, and tent seperately. We may add brakes later, and I hope to mount a motorcycle rack on the tongue to carry at least my Honda Trail 110, or possibly two small motorcycles (one front and one back).

The tent we selected is an Eezi Awn 1400. It's just my husband and me, so it's plenty roomy. It would sleep three shoulder to shoulder. They do make a bigger tent that will sleep four comfortably (the 1800 series I think), and the trailer has room to accommodate it.

Really easy to set up & take down (under 5 minutes), very comfortable as most have quite a nice mattress, great views (last week watched 4 deer pass through our site up in the Chilcotins), creates more room on the inside for traveling - probably digging for excuses, but in the end I enjoy it and the convenience associated. I've spent alot of nights in tents over the years and much prefer this experience.

I'm not that old. Just old enough to know better and appreciate a good nights sleep.

I was just pulling your chain, but I do have bad knees and I honestly do not know which would be harder on them... Crawling out of a normal tent or dealing with the stairs of an RTT.

Well my better half is 74 years old and can climb up and down the ladder just fine! But I do tease him that when he gets too old to climb the ladder, I'll have the whole tent to myself, and I'll get him a Tent Cot that can go on the ground!

By 74 my wife tells me that my jeep will be a wheelchair with mountain bike tires.

I do like the idea of being off the cold/wet ground.

If you ever see one for sale, pick it up! These old trailers are a ton of fun and take old CJ parts.

Here's a few from awhile back. I've since added ACE rock sliders (which have proven very useful for accessing rack top) and a few other goodies.
Best M416 mod I've seen. I'm looking for a M416 trailer to buy that's close to Arkansas. Thanks for sharing.

and sometime the floor can be very wet, or muddy, and set up a tent can be really tricky or full of crawling thing that you dont want to cher your bed with
