No, I was pretty clear...food is in my trailer. I have 50years experience hunting and camping in CO, WY, and MT and know bears well. One ate the cover off my hot tub last week in fact. Golden rule around here and North: I never leave , prepare,or store food in or near my vehicle. The trailer is completely bear proof.....and yes it has been field tested many times. In fact, the number one reason for leaving the trailer behind is for overnight stays: my RTT is on my Gobi rack and I drive a few miles away from my trailer and camp for the night. Blacks are just a nuisance, though people get bitten or broke into occasionally at local campsites because they don't understand food. I've camped in grizzly country many times and have seen and heard them at night but they aren't interested without food odors. The trailer is the remote bait, and one of its best advantages. Rigs with fridges and mess kits in the back of their jeeps wouldn't stand a chance against a hungry bear.

On this subject, folks camping in West should add pepper spray to their pack list. Unless you really know how to hunt bear, forget the handgun, it's little use in panicked hands.

Also, that part about the GPS having a gas station that was missing: On the Big Bend trip I just returned from we learned that the only gas station in Marathon, TX had burned down a few weeks ago. You better not be empty if you arrive in Marathon right now!

And, finally, let me post up a few pics of just the local area because this recent spate of icy weather has presented some unusual opportunities to get some photos. But, before doing that, let me emphasize that the primary reason I got a Jeep was to get me to places to shoot photos. I don't want terrain, or weather, to stop me. So, with that intro, I was delighted that when the ice storm hit a few days ago I had my Jeep to get me out (even though it turned out the roads were actually in quite good shape). Here are some pictures I shot ...

This is from quite a few pages back, but I saw this as I was trying to get through this ENORMOUS thread........

Did anyone notice what looks like a little "angel" in praying mode towards the left of the photo? crazyness!!!

Nice shots as usual Mark! Your videos and photos are helping me pass the time at work nicely!

Hmmm.......... I think it's quite obvious now that I am an idiot. Upon closer inspection, it looks as though it is in fact a little angel. Was this a tombstone ornament? I thought at first the dripping water had formed an ice miracle.

My apologies!!

I did get my Tuffy security enclosure installed today. I really like that it doubles my cargo space, is secure and fits perfectly in the trunk.
I've been interested in the tuffy enclosure but there seems to be a lack of pictures on the internet. Any chance you could snap a few more of the sides and the entire area it covers?
Thanks in advance

Here are a few more. I'll take some better ones when I get a chance. The box totally encases the trunk area in steel. If someone had a crowbar and a lot of time I'm sure they could get into it. But it would be very difficult. I mainly wanted it so I could get 2 layer stacking without having to build something from scratch. On the underside is the thumb screws so if u need to remove the top of it for hauling something taller you can.

These were taken at night with a cell phone so they aren't superb. I can take some more when I get a chance. I agree the photos online are not enough. I got this from 4WD.com. Great price and free shipping. It weighs 60 lbs all put together.

Yes. it is an angel Christmas ornament. Those are not tombstones, however. They are chairs at the Oklahoma City Federal Building Memorial. Each chair represents one person who died that fateful day; the little chairs for the children, of course. They are arranged by the building floor that they were on when the bombing occurred. ...

I have had mine for years now and really love it. It is heavy duty and I really like having all my recovery gear as well as other valuables out of sight.

Threw a rug on top for some traction for the Dachshunds.

Sent from the hand of the RSB himself!!!
