Wild mofos and good people!
We share a passion for motorcycles and now he has a jeep too.

That 2 door is pretty well sorted for this trip.

Small world.
Too funny. And my buddy wanted to wait till they left to check out their jeep. Glad I didn't. But yes, very small world.

Its actually a one-off that I got from a local toyota guy. It was working really well but unfortunately broke about 45 minutes after the picture was taken. A couple welds broke where the main metal angles upwards. Its all stainless which I like but I need to find someone that can weld it back up and add some bracing to be able to handle the weight of fuel/water and also extend it by about 6". I was using an extender from HF to get it to clear the spare tire which added another wiggle point that I wasn't real happy with.

I was looking at other options when this popped up and figured it was a lot cheaper alternative to carrying extra fuel. Now I'm looking at the Atlas rear bumper and a couple others. I just wish they weren't so darn expensive.

You need to look up OR Fab's swing away tire carrier, it'll hold up to a 37" tire, CB antenna, Hi Lift jack, and the option of two Jerry Cans, two Roto Pax, or neither. I have the jerry can option and it works great and is very sturdy. It doesn't make any noise and I've even used it as a ladder to get on top of the jeep. You can keep the bumper you have since it operates like the Teraflex hinge and it's much cheaper than bumper/tire carrier combos. Mine was just about $580.

Told a friend my idea to mount my solar panel on the hood. He came up with further ideas and made the mounting brackets for me.

Tent is on!

Progress!! 2.5m awning isn't on, but is all ready to go.

Tent is on. Slightly off centered (awning poles are in the way), but not enough to be a major issue. Only concern right now is when I put my full weight on the upper part of the ladder, it transfers to the tent (ladder doesn't lock) and that really flex's the tent shell. Not sure how many options I have there. 1 is to make the load bars wider on that side to support the weight. Will talk to JB and see what they say first.

Oh and of course as I have this ready to go... I'm about to pull the trigger on a 5wide Little Guy Rough Rider that's priced to sell and only a days drive away. Will just have to keep both!

But now to the good stuff. Porn!

Glad to see that if the weather is bad, I can setup the ladder on this side, and enter/exit under the awning. Until I sort out the flex issue, will have to use this side.

Looks like they have the OR Fab's swing away tire carrier on the new US army Jeeps, The Commando. I think it came out 2014 and are now in the battle zon for US Military. Military Jeep | COMMANDO Tactical Vehicle
