I have a WARN 9.5cti-s (synthetic line) Warn Industries - Jeep, Truck & SUV Winches: 9.5cti-s
It's feels like high quality and it have not let me down yet.
I have used it once to pull myself up a sand dune "road" and several times to pull other people out of trouble for karma points
Winching up deep sand.

I love all the expedition style JKs on this thread! Does anyone have the AEV roof rack? I got some bonus/Christmas money to spend and I want to get the rack. I can't find a picture of it with the freedom tops off from an overhead view. I am just curious how it looks and how much open area is not obstructed by the rack. Can anyone post a pic for me to help me make my decision?

Thanks for the help Mark! I really like the look of this rack! These are awesome pictures but, no overhead view. It's okay, I think I'm just gonna get it anyway. Is your friend happy with his?

I've been looking at propane tanks I can add to my setup and want to know opinions on aluminum vs steel. Are the weight savings worth the additional expense? Are there any other advantages aluminum would have on a mount on the rear of my JKU?

I have the AEV rack on my JKU and very happy with it.. Top notch quality rack and the brackets are very precisely made and fit well. This rack can carry a lot more weight than you would ever want to put on the roof of your Jeep. There are no squeaks or rattles with this rack and it's rock solid.
Also the rack did not add as much wind noise as I thought it would... I did add some sound insulation to the freedom hard top at the same time I installed the rack, so it might be hard to determine if the noise would be more without the sound insulation panels.
It is possible to remove the freedom panels with the rack installed. I could only find one picture of the rack with the panels off and it's at a bad angle. But I added some measurements in one of the pictures attached to show where the rack stops in comparison to the freedom panels.
Basically the rack overhangs the area where the freedom panels starts by 10".. and that leaves another 18" left over from windshield to rack for open air.
