The Gobi also works with the Rugged Ridge low or high intake.
Thanks, I did not realize it would work. I thought only the Gen 1 AEV snorkel would work with the Gobi rack. I have a 3.6 liter so I need the Gen 2 AEV snorkel and from the link you posted it looks like an easy mod which I would much rather do than drill my top (I could even handle that mod on my own I think). I had read several people post that the new AEV snorkel was not compatible with the Gobi rack but I am glad there is an easy fix. Also both the Gobi site and the AEV site say that the two products will not work together.

If you haven't got the snorkel yet, you may want to consider the Rugged Ridge modular snorkel:
Both the low and high intakes work with the Gobi, it is tucked in more than the Gobi (less vulnerable to branches/limbs), and the low mount is perfect for the vast majority of situations that call for a snorkel.
IMO it is better designed, mainly because there's no need to cut the hood (no outside mark is left when the snorkel is moved to another Jeep), and because of the drain tub which is quite efficient in blocking water, dirt and sand dust.

I am curious about the 3.6 engine working with the AEV snorkel and a Gobi too. I've been emailing AEV who politely said they have no information and to contact Gobi. I've got an email into Gobi but I expect the same thing. Does anyone have pictures of the snorkel and Gobi working together on the newer Jeeps?

not an issue, do you have a front runner rack? If you did you would know there are rubber bushings that are installed through the top where the bolts go through. They absorb any and all flex.

With bushings which are soft enough to absorb all the flex, I'd worry about long-term sealing.
Maybe it works just fine. I wouldn't have included potential problems in any design.

Trust me. The rack is the least of your worries when it comes to leaking. I am only speaking from experience because I have a Front Runner rack.
