The video for part 1 of my recent trip to Anza Borrego Desert State Park is online. Part 1 is basically a reprise of last year's trip to Font's Point, Split Mountain and Sandstone Canyon. More parts will be coming online in the near future ...

Mark,
I saw the video, thanks. Question: where the canyon was blocked by the fallen boulder, is there another way out? I was wondering what could have happened if that fell after you were on the other side

Good question. If you watched the videos from last year, we were further in when a different rock fall stopped us. I haven't been to the end of the canyon, but have been told it gets too narrow to pass, so it is barricaded off by posts--hiking only past that. I guess you'd be in a quandary on how to get your vehicle out. Sounds like the plot for a 100K hit video as you're piling up small rocks to make it passable, LOL!

Wow. Scary thought! The entire adventure would change if you found that boulder on your way out! Wow. Maybe you need to start carrying dynamite... gotta be prepared! LOL

Otherwise, yes, you'd be piling up a LOT of rocks to create steps up AND down on the other side! Like i said, scary thought.

Default MaxTrax

Anyone have some real world MaxTrax reviews? I'm thinking of making 2 sets of MaxTrax my first vehicle recovery purchase. Thoughts?

Cheers!

I know cascade wanderer and Mark Doiron have a set. I know both of them are happy with their handiness.

Mark,
I just watched both parts at lunchtime. Great videos as usual. In part 2 were you throwing some codes or something? You can hear a few chimes and a warning about temperature and checking the gas cap. Is that voice from the app on your tablet?

Yes. The temp mention you heard was just "Operating Temperature Reached". Normal operation. She also nags me when operating temperature hasn't been reached and I over rev her (girls, ). All of that can be turned off, of course (unlike girls). But it gives me someone to talk to (I call her Sam for the voice I originally used, Samantha).

The other code (P0455) turned out to be because during all of that rough stuff my evaporator valve that's mounted by the TIPM had worked itself loose and dropped down on the exhaust manifold. It burned a hole through the plastic evaporative line. The app is Torque Pro, BTW.
