And fairings are a definite ear saver for roof racks. Good you got one before your trip.

Yeah I like the look you've got going with your Jeep and the mainly stock form. I put 265/75-16 Duratracs on my daughters JK 2 door with the stock steelies but plasti dipped them two tone and it works well but I am thinking of moving to 285's for mine when the time comes. With that its either a leveling kit or 2" lift (with progressive springs) but no higher I just don't want to kill the mpg's. I have the same driveline combo so good to know its performed at or above your expectations and I doubt I will ever really challenge it to a point of dire consequences but will eventually look into getting little extra support on the axles sometime and a few essential skids under there too.
Thought about a roof rack but I haven't seen one that allows use of the sunrider or easy drop of the soft top without tipping the rack backward. Hopefully I start working on a off road trailer shortly so I can keep any gear out of and the wait off the Jeep. To help with the weight I think I'll go with converting the stock bumper to stubbies with an available kit then debate on a winch or no winch, its really gonna depend on how often I plan to travel with others that are outfitted with one. Even thou it not alot of things it will be over time for sure. Gotta worry about my daughters JK too no doubt.

You got a shot of your daughters Jeep with the 265/75 R16's? Would like to see it. About the rack - yes it absolutely limits the number of times I now put my top down. The reason I got the soft top was to at least have the sunrider back as often as possible. It's not impossible now with the rack and it actually only takes a few minutes. But, the sunrider used to only take a few seconds to put back. So, I miss the spontaneity. At this point I'd almost rather just have the hardtop. But I still take the doors and all the windows off on a whim. Being a two door I cannot see any other way of overlanding with my Jeep without a rack unless I tow a trailer. Not sure that I would want to bounce a trailer around in some of the locations that I have gone but I know many are with no problems. For now I'm sticking with the old fashioned ground tent. Last time I went out however I did sleep in the back of my Jeep. That's right! It's a two door remember? HAHA! I figured out that me being 5'11'' if I move/tilt the passenger seat all the way forward I can just about fully extend my legs. It was a somewhat restless couple of nights but setting up camp sure was easy!
This might not be the best spot for this question but I figured some of you guys might have a good answer. Anyone familiar with the suv tents that connect to the back of the jeep? My family is in the market for a new tent for this coming year and I really like the idea of being able to sleep in the jeep while the three kids are in the tent, or just access to storage and power in the jeep. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks
It wasn't very easy to put up by myself, or with the "help" of my 10 year old. But once it was done, it was great. Very roomy. Kept the back of the jeep wide open, with a full size air mattress in the back. Gear on the front passenger seat or in the tent. Just make sure the jeep sits for a while to make sure the exhaust is cool.
They are getting harder to find. I think they came with the Liberty for a few model years. When they pop up, they run $200-300. I was lucky and got it cheaper from a woman who never took it out of the box.
I was lucky enough to find a Jeep Liberty Tent on Craigslist a couple years ago. They are the right size to attach to the back of the Wrangler. I don't have a picture of it, but you might find it (someone else's) by searching on google for "Finally it was nice enough to put up my new jeep tent". (I don't think we are allowed to link to other forums).

I have one of those bags in my garage somewhere too. Maybe I should just modify a roof rack onto my hard top, and use that on my roof, using the rack for securing the bag too. I could put a lot of stuff in that like clothing, tents, sleeping bags etc. all put into water tight bags of course.

The pics are of mine and my daughter JK's. Hers the red and mine the commando and yes I do like I do like the red better but scratches won't show so much on mine and if you recall the red JK on the forum header, that is exactly my style.
