What do you guys do for awnings? I've got a Gobi stealth and am wanting to mount an awning on one side. Does a regular awning work pretty good or has anyone done one of those foxwing style awnings?

I just picked up a Gobi stealth as well, hope to have it installed by this weekend. My plan is the foxwing 270* awning. seems like the best coverage available and really easy to set up.

quick google search for one on a gobi/JKU

But, because of that nozzle they have a cap that is removable. So I've had several stolen (the NATO cans cap is attached). And there is no place that I ever found (stopped looking a couple years ago) to replace the missing caps. I even contacted some plastics manufacturing company, which was kind enough to mail me at no charge a couple caps and seals, but they are different. Regardless, even the originals did not seal properly. It was downright dangerous having gas slosh out of the cans (especially when you consider that my cook area is right on the other side of where they are mounted). Finally, because the NATO cap is attached and the way it is attached, on my racks they cannot be opened when locked in place. Which means some jokester can't drop a little salt, sugar, sand into the can. The B&S are vulnerable to such mischief.

Also, because of two upcoming trips that will involve more miles than I can drive even with my two NATO cans, I'm going to pick up some smaller, 2-1/2 gallon cans to strap on top of the Jeep. You'll see those in the future, but I don't have yet. My traveling companion already has some picked out that he says are super, but I don't know which ones they are.
Get a super syphon and quit trying to pour gas.

I don't have a Gobi Stealth but rather a AEV rack. But I do have a Eezi-Awn Bat 270 Degree Awning.
The Eezi-awn is very high quality and it's possible to have it open without putting the legs down + there are no need for guy ropes (you can stake down the bottom of the legs). I really like the fact that is covers the rear of the Jeep for when it rains.

Lexington Container Company has great cans. The paint is mediocre quality and will fade with time. $50 shipped. I also got 1 spout for a can for pouring. I find it just as easy to pour into the jeep than use a shaker siphon. I know a few people who are using these cans now and they are happy with them too (to my knowledge). They new manufactured to the original NATO spec. Mine have never leaked. But like all NATO cans, you need to know how to clamp down the cover so you don't damage the hinge (which would lead to leaks)... place cover in position (flat on opening) and then clamp it down. I find it funny how much of the CARB compliant stuff leaks out there, but the old NATO cans (not CARB compliant) do not leak. I have not had an issue with crossing boarders in Canada (and back) with my NATO cans (which are made in Latvia IIRC)
