Lmao I did the exact same thing in my KJ and my wife still has not let me forget it. I actually had to look to see if this was one of my posts, I kid you not!

Two winchings and one trailer rollover. It survived with minor cosmetic damage. Adventure Trailers are tough!

Camped at McKinley Rocks. It rained on us some more. You can see McKinley Rocks on Google Earth here: N34 34.919 W95 15.032 ...

That's yours truly climbing to the summit of McKinley Rocks ...

Pressing down the K-Trail ...

Why did this exhaust suddenly get so loud? Oh, it was pulled apart by the rocks! ...

Plenty of mud along the trails ...

Stopped at Lazenby Viewpoint for lunch and to admire the view. That's my JK, of course ...

Oops, flat tire. Good thing they got that bead reseated!

Our second night destination, Kiamichi Mountain Fire Tower. The two Jeeps pulling trailers did not continue on this part of the trail because the owners had to be at work Monday ...

Admiring the great view from our third night's campsite. And the weather was quite nice for once. But, not for long ...

Beautiful sunset from the fire tower ...

That night the winds really kicked up. It pulled up three of my backpacking tent's stakes (of six total), causing a lot of flapping. I was going to put some more stakes in, figuring I couldn't find the ones in the ground in the dark. Except I left the bag of pegs in my Jeep. Opened up the tent and there was fog everywhere. The wind was so strong I was afraid it would blow away the tent if I left it. It was 6 a.m., so decided to throw some nearby gear on it and head for my Jeep. It was cold, but not terribly so. While sitting in the Jeep, I decided to shoot a little video. You can see some of it here ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUiKVIPfH1U Fortunately, the only remaining rooftop tent owner was camped just below the top of the ridgeline where the winds weren't nearly as bad.

Remaining vehicles at the Kiamichi Mountain Fire Tower ...

Continuing down the K-Trail ...

... and back to civilization. That's Kiamichi Mountain in the background. It runs many tens of miles east/west and we had driven along its backbone--rather like Talimena Skyline Drive just north of there, but for Jeeps (and LR Defenders).
Mark,
That looks like a lot of fun. If I can make it up there i will PM you and see if ya want to meet up.

Sure thing! But, do be aware that I'm retired and I travel a lot. I'm headed to Mojave Trail later this month, and the Al-Can highway and Arctic Circle during the summer. And, I must find time to toss in an annual pilgrimage to Moab, and a trip to visit with my folks in San Diego. So, don't be surprised if it takes me a while to get back to you--it's common for me to be away from Internet access for a week or more.

Agree I love the Magazine but always found it almost Jeep bias but that has really changed in the last year and I think the JK Unlimited has really changed the overlanding crowds opinion.

I for one sold my rock crawling TJ and am building a JK overlander. Haven't decided on roof rack or trailer yet..
