IPF lights
I opted for the cheapest Sylvania halogen bulbs there are ("Standard", $20/pair). You know, the ones that on the package have one-quarter of the output of the Silverstars? Well, don't believe that misleading packaging. These bulbs appear to be the same, exact color as the stock fog lamps (3100K). And the output from them, with the IPF headlamp assemblies, is excellent in dim. On high, they are roughly the same as the stock bulbs--which is not terribly great, but not as atrocious as the dim setting with the stock bulbs. I think that when I replace the bulbs I'll consider the "Xtravision" bulbs, which should have more light output, and no blue (3200K).
Bottom line: The IPF headlamp assemblies with the "Standard" Sylvania bulbs is what the factory should have delivered, not that piece of junk we all actually received.
BTW: Even when turned off, the IPF headlamps look like they belong on my Jeep. The stock headlamps, with their bulbous, clear appearance and space-age reflector, make me think of some cheap sci-fi movie. I expect laser beams to come shooting out of them. The only thing missing is the silhouette of a young man and two robots making derisive comments as they watch the comedy.

That's what mine look like too. He's got some good comparison pics on there.
I love the Northridge IPF kit for the headlamps, I am going to try to find fogs that are the same color temp and switch them out.

No pic's. I have the IPF lights, just installed them a couple days ago. After seeing Interceptor_1972's with the 4400K lights, I decided I didn't want them. That is, the light output is white. But, hold your head in just the right position looking at the Jeep and the blue is clearly visible. Also, with the lights off, look straight-on at the headlights in the daytime and you see the blue bulbs in the reflector. It's really a small thing, but still too "not Jeep; more kiddie-car" for me. They also are not the same color temp as the stock fogs, which I have.

I just ordered a set of IPFs for my girlfriend's rig. I asked Dave the same question - white or blue? The blue ones are recommended. I ran IPF magic Js in my cherokee before and the XT42s are the same.
Expect a similar white to PIAA lights. If you don't want a "whiter" light, go with a set of IPF FatBoy bulbs. Those are amazing. I ran the X4 fatboy in blue on my JK before I went to HID and they were bright as hell.
The "cheap" ricer blue bulbs are the poor performing ones. I haven't had a problem with IPF and they seem to be top notch. So... get blue.
