ok, so tomorrow is the big day for paint ... wish me luck!
tonight however was my b-day so i had a big dinner with my fam. g-pa and my aunt/uncle came over, was nice.
after dinner i got kickin on the 3rd brake light, the pics pretty much tell the story. it turned out pretty good, but could have been a lot cleaner had i taken more time. i only need it for 2 months though. tomorrow i'll paint it with the rest of the body.

and this was just cool lookin like always

well it's started ... and not the best, but ok. however for free and hour vs like $200, its turning out great.
so the dust hasn't really been an issue, its rained a lot recently. strung em up also so nothing just falls on them. however it started to sprinkle just a TAD but they were already flashed dry so no issue.
also learned i should thin the clear more ... from one fender to the next i threw in some more thinner and it came out a lot nicer
this can't be the best way
more to come soon

laid more clear on one fender trying something ... fawked it up. i think i got too much thinner in it, but might have also waited too long between coats ... i really need a painter lookin over my sholder. i was going to have to wet-sand anyways, so not a huge deal, but it wasn't moving fwd.
hey photoshop guys ... i need some help to see what a color accent would look like. let me know if ya wouldn't mind helpin.
and someone out there has to have had this error code before (U0154: LOST COMMUNICATION WITH OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE) ... all you guys who went in the water, someone! i have zero intention of takin it to the dealer to look at, but it's lookin like it will be the last thing i have to fix to get it back on the road.

Good luck man....I've been a fly on the wall of this thread since day one...and at first I was like wow this dudes nuts...this thing is gonna take forever, and cost a boat load of cash to fix..but I must say I am thoroughly impressed and you actually have me motivated to take on a rebuild....it's been a while but I think I need a project to keep me busy.
I'm just taking a stab at this one...but if I were a bettin man Id say that this jeep has side airbags....if thats the case check the connectors for the bags (should be under the seats) and race the wires checking for any cuts etc. Id also disconnect em (with battery disconnected) spray em out with an electrical contact cleaner and some of that anti seize crap for electrical connectors once its all dried out and clean....then reconnect em, reconnect the battery and try again.

and your serious ... side air bags in the side of the seats ... fakk ... it should have that little SOR logo or something on the sear right? i got $50 says the whole outside of the pass seat was under water for a period of time in the roll, so that's tellin me i'm guna have to strip the cover clean off and check the connections dirrectly at the bag itself.
didn't play with the sensor BS ... too much stuff around the jeep right now.
did however do the 1st stage of wet-sand on the fender that came out crappy. i primed the little light mount. and i put 2 coats of the Chassis Saver on the first side of the windshield frame.
tomorrow i drop the hood off for a pro to paint, since it's the only panel getting paint that is flawless. i'll drop the $2k later for new fenders/frame and paint. also plan to finish the chassis saver on the frame and clean up a bit in the garage.
nothing real picture worthy ... but i know how web-wheels love their pics! the clean fender is the one i havn't yet sanded, it came out a lot better.
