My last Jeep was a TJ, and before that I've owned a ZJ and two XJs. I loved my SUV Jeeps, but had always wanted a Wrangler, and when I finally got one, I knew I'd never be without one ever again.
The space in my TJ was fine while I was single, but now that I'm engaged, I find myself hauling people around a lot more often, and hauling a lot more stuff on a regular basis. Not to mention the difference in size in a woman's luggage and how much she needs for a weekend trip!
She loves Jeeps, and we actually looked at a TJ for her several years ago, but she trains horses and the room wasn't enough for all that tack. We traded the TJ in for the JK due to the versatility inherent in the design.
Daily driving . . . I still miss the TJ. I felt more connected to the road, and the JKU doesn't whip around as easily as a 2dr. I would have stayed with the TJ if it weren't for the space issues.
The comment was made that if you buy the 2dr, you are essentially limiting yourself, and this is a great point, but not one that I would have been concerned with when I was in college.
It all comes down to figuring out what your needs are, and deciding which best suits those needs.

To be fair I am not sure this is the best argument I would make. The back seat on either wranglers are so uncomfortable that I doubt any of my friends would enjoy riding in the back for a very long time...
I bought the two door as I don't wheel kids or dogs around each day
The occasional girlfriend, school or taking a friend to the skatepark is my normal commute
I have no problems with the two door.

LOL... true, but none of my friends are kids...
