I just noticed my brake line getting torn up by my shock absorbers on memorial day weekend. it's strange, only the rear left is eaten almost all the way through my cable. my right rear is not even close to touching my shock absorber. I just read the article right now and realized that the right front is another prospect of this recall. so i will inspect myself when i get my jeep back tomorrow.

i hope they cover it per their warranty agreement. as the guy said no recalls had been made on my specific vin #. if anyone wants pictures of the jeep brake lines, I'm pretty sure they're going to come up with some bullshit excuse not to cover it, so if that's the case, ill take pictures of what it looks like.

The recall is in response to the inner fender liner rubbing on the stainless steel brake lines mounted on the frame. These lines should be painted black as they are installed before the frame gets its paint dip.

My fender liners don't touch the brake lines...

Even it they did, there's no way the plastic is going to abrade the stainless brake line. The plastic will wear away, but the brake line will not. It may polish the steel, but that's all it would do. I can't help but wonder what genius thought that this was a problem.

No doubt that the fix will be trim the liners near the brake lines.

Wrong, again.

My inner plastic things are bent to shit and they have eaten through my brake lines.

And, they will add a bracket to prevent the line from coming into contact with inner tube absorber/ or whatever its called.

I just took mine in and they were dicks about the whole "recall situation" and for my certain jeep there is no specific vin recall. so i have a feeling it will not be fixed unless covered under warranty. but I'll get some pictures before they get my confirmation on fixing it if anyone would like. o by the way, my shock absorber/ or whatever its called, is completely destroyed.

My passenger side fender has made it about half way thru my brake line. Probably a few months to a year from wearing thru. Nasty flat spot in my brake line. The wind catches the fender and works it against the brake line. So off to the F-----n Dealership again.
