ECU Police Ticketed me for my wheels
I would have written you as well. Then as a fellow jeeper I would have slapped you for the most ridiculously ghetto arsed rims I have ever seen. I mean as a Cop I have seen some ridiculous things but that has to top the cake right there.
I personally think that this whole mess was a case of an officer seeing a guy drawing attention to himself and trying to shut me down. I changed insurance policies back in april. Apparently the DMV didn't get the memo and the officer didn't care to let me make the call to verify my insurance (I didn't have my current card w/ me either). They confiscated my plates as well, left me sitting on the side of the road and gave me a ticket for not having insurance either.

The best part is this. The vehicle and the insurance is YOUR responsibility, not mine as a police officer. YOU have to call and make sure everything is verified and correct with your insurance, vehicle and so on. So I know you think that the police are out to get you but we aren't. Quit bitching, and get everything fixed on your own. You are an adult right? Then act like one. It isn't my job to get on the phone with your fly by night insurance company, it isn't my job to let you go on minor traffic violations, It is my choice. People that bitch like you make it harder and harder for me to let people slide on things everyday. GROW UP!
Your lack of a proper insurance ID card may be why you got the wheel light ticket instead of a warning. One thing wrong maybe a warning, few things wrong, ticket time. After all you did give the officer probable cause to pull you over with those lights.
No proof of insurance in NJ is an expensive ticket. No insurance is an automatic 6 months loss of license. If this happened in NJ when you go to court, defense would ask the officer why did he pull you over in the first place. He had to write a ticket for the lights to establish his reason for pulling you over and citing you for no insurance card.
By the way, in NJ they would impound and tow the car. You would pay those fees as well as the ticket. A simple paperwork problem can be very costly
All in all my entire contention here is that I just can't bring myself to simply send in the money. I'll at least get my argument heard in court. And, who knows, maybe even win.
Just ask OJ Simpson. Being found not guilty doesn't mean you are innocent. There is a difference

.....BTW, the wheels look RETARDED, you deserved more!
